Impact of a Labor/Greens/Teal parliament

So the "climate bill" got passed through parliament and is now legislation/law to reduce emissions by at least 43% by 2030 & to pursue a net zero target by 2050

Does anyone know what penalties are in place if we don't achieve the legislated targets, or is it just a random figure plucked out of the air, to appease certain sectors ?
It will be interesting to watch how we are tracking over the next three years IMO, because after that period, we only have a further five years to achieve it. :2twocents

That's a very good question.

Could a future PM be charged with breaking the law if the targets are not achieved ?

I think it's more likely that if it looks like the target won't be achieved the PM will simply change the law. ;)

Same as the penalties for violating the debt ceiling laws.... Non-Existent and irrelevant.

Government of the day will just change or scrap the laws if there is ever an issue.

Getting a special holiday for the Queen.
That wouldn't have happened with the Coalition.
With the Victorian Footy holiday I will get a 4 day weekend. ?

I don't know what you have to complain about, you got months off with covid lockdowns, that happened with the coalition.:roflmao:

Nothing to complain of personally. I worked pretty hard during the lockdowns, sad for the businesses that didn't make it though.
Just saying I don't think the coalition would have given the extra holiday though I suppose Menzies would have. not sure my boss is as happy about it as me.:)

Nicolette Boele, the teal independent challenger for the Liberal-held seat of Bradfield, has apologised for making a sexualised comment to a 19-year-old staff member at a hair salon.

Ms Boele was banned from her local hairdresser, Envy Room salon in Gordon, after she told the teenager after having her hair washed, “that was amazing, and I didn’t even have sex with you”, 2GB’s Ben Fordham reported on Tuesday morning.

.... looking good is one thing, off to the salon for some grooming had a new spin to it

Indeed ! Reminds of the (countless) number of times someone in an office has said "Who do I have to xuck to get a cup of coffee? "
Nicolette has far too much spunk for her age.

I don't even want to think about the sort "sexualised rubbish" that would come out of the gobs of Lib/National/Labour Party reps. But clearly Ben Fordham is going to be chasing these all down... at least if the are in the wrong Party

I guess, as long as there is a happy ending, no one's going to get too upset.
It is only a hair wash after all.

Who xucking "blamed" anyone ?

No one has any idea from the reported story of just how seriously the comment went down.
Was it tacky and offcolour ? Sure. And clearly Nicolette Beal decided on an apology for any offence taken because clearly someone did.

My point was recognising how every politician male /female/ all parties would be guilty of similar comments. And pointing out that Ben Fordham would only be looking for examples like Nicolette Beal to make a story because that is the way 2GB rolls

Drop your nasty comments Dona. It's tacky and unnecessary.
