IG Markets - Platform Faults & Gotchas

Hi, Have other IGM users had issues with the lag on the B/S ticket pop-up against the listed screen quotes on IGM? it's truly terrible!

The ticket prices can lag or stall altogether until you close and re-open a ticket.

Happened at least 15 -20 times yesterday and a few times today.

Also the actual confirmation times for buying and selling are (to me at least) shocking! In some cases over 20 seconds and on average at least 7-10 seconds or more for buy and sells -- hardly conducive to a quick scalp.

Have just returned to trading after a period of full time contract work and have been getting re-aquainted with the IG platform.

In the last week back the response time has been good and the B-S ticket is in good sync with the watchlist Sell-Buy figures. I can just barely notice a lag between the two. There is a just barely noticeable lag with the charts, but not worth thinking about it, at least for me. So far the platform has been ok at my end.

PS. I did previously have a big problem when I was trying to run the platform using a P3 model PC, and it was slow! Upgraded it for a small outlay to an E1200 processor and it now perfrms extremely well. I was skeptical about the E1200, but I'm glad I listened to my PC guru.

PPS. ... no I'm not employed/paid by IG to say the above and have no connection with them other than I have a trading account with them.

Major spike @ 10:15 O=5363 down to L=5323.5 and back to C=5363 (on 1min chart)
Was this on all yr screens or just mine?
Were you effected ..stopped out etc?

Not trying to raise the conspiracy theory again, but wondering whether TH or others might check the two 1 second spikes which showed up on IG this morning (Aussie 200 E-mini) at 1.15.03 and 1.15.04 (10.15 am our time)

They were 40 points under the market price ..... I have no volume data to verify the trades .... cheers.

EDIT: You beat me to it Euler

No not there at all!!!. Three things
1. Seems like a data error from IG wounder if it would of triggered stops??

2. Happened around the time of BHPs late open (makes me think its was a data error which the ASX stuff up with alarming consistency with ASX20 late starts/splits/etc)

3. If you guys had live SPI data instead of basing trades with this **** you should be buying theses spikes with your ears pinned back. :bigun2:

TH, The spikes only lasted 2 seconds. Even your trigger finger isn't that quick :D (Is it ?? )

Some of us poorer buggas unfortunately need these bucket shops while trying to learn the trade  ........... Out of curiousity, what does basic SPI data cost per month .......... Cheers.

hello,

great work euler,

but thats what you have to put up with when you have a 160pg PDS and a contract with a provider,

you wont find in the contract or pds that they have to follow "anything",

thankyou

The important thing to understand is that you are signing a contract and unless you understand the contents and the fine print you are at their mercy ..... don't want to sound like a broken record but .... (from another thread)

Repeat ... do some reseach and ensure the packages' current specifications and go from there. And fully understand the product you decide to trade, with all the built in safeguards (for the MM of course)

Is anybody currently having problems accessing the charts??

I cant seem to bring up an advanced chart or a quick chart :(

They've finally put a note on the site. It says the charts will be down for the day.

Does anyone know if this is affecting other brokers that use IT Finance (e.g., CMC)?

 you wanna expand on that a little.

it just means exactly that.... it's like trading blind.... trading is a very much a visual thing for me...

(Actually, that would be an interest topic... can blind people day-trade efficiently?)

There are no technical indicators to go off on...

can't see intraday support/resistance
can't see breakouts
can't see any MACD, RSI, PSARS, MA
it's hopeless....

Placing a trade without charts to confirm an entry is just like making a random bet...
