If I invest in a managed fund then because the fund manager is the trustee then does that mean the fund manager holds legal title to my investments? Does this apply for super as well?

Fund manager doesn't own anything, it your money, you are the unit holder
the unit holder has claim to the money

Fund manager just someone who authorize to invest on your behalf.

There maybe be a dodge arrangement with some unknown person setup the fund and once you hand him the money it may become his money

but if you go with the people like Perpetual, Colonial other big and trust worthy fund managers, all your money is your minus fee, they just get paid a salary and a bonus/commission.
