I'd like to know

Personally I judge people on results rather than personalities. That said, if they're impossible to deal with then it's difficult to get decent results from them no matter what their skills and work ethic are.

I don't consider either Tech or Tree to be difficult to deal with from my personal experiences.

In my own real life situation I supervise a small group of trades and related people at work. I'll put it this way. The apprentice is absolutely reliable, easy to get along with and gets results both in terms of work and his own training. The result is that he could push me a long way before I would draw the line. I'm quite happy for him to argue the point, in fact I encourage it, and I'll certainly listen to and respect his opinion despite being young and with limited experience simply because of his proven track record.

In contrast, there are others twice his age and with far greater experience who require constant watching to make sure they get results and even then they cause problems. They had better not ask for too many favours or try bending the rules.

It all comes down to RESULTS. Get results and I'll look very favourably on you. Mess about and make constant excuses and I won't.

I've learnt a lot from reading Tech's posts and he hasn't asked for anything in return. I don't agree with everything Tech says, I always verify what anyone tells me if it relates to something important, but overall Tech delivers results.

Tree has also pointed out a few useful things which I intend investigating. But unlike Tech, Tree often seems rather vague and fails to disclose the full answer, preferring instead to promote some course.

As I said, I judge people by the results they deliver NOT by their age, status, qualifications etc. I like those who deliver results rather than excuses.

That said, I do think that BOTH of you ought to simply stop taking the bait and stick to FACTUAL matters and ignore the personality issues. Facts tend to blow spin and a sales pitch clean out of the water, hence why politicians and others keep well away from factual information preferring instead to promote concepts, "core" things, ideology and so on.

Stick to the facts and it will quickly become blindingly obvious who knows their stuff.

I value being a member of this forum for many reasons but mostly because:

1. there is much to be learned from the diversity of opinions and strategies
described;

2. for the most part it is not filled with non-constructive or derogatory
mud-slinging or sexism.

Therefore, it's somewhat disappointing to witness the current mutual abuse between Moneytree and Tech-A, and I'm reluctant to participate in any poll.

I am personally grateful to Tech-A for technical advice and personal support I've received regarding my fundamental analysis.

My opinion is that you should sort it out between the two of you, preferably in a civilised fashion. I'm not sure that, amongst all the anger and emotion, either of you really remember what started all this angst off!

Yeh it might be childish frankly if people find my postings as Tree says they do I have no desire to be involved further.

I know no other way of answering my question.

There are plenty here who are no fools,one less wont make a great deal of difference.

Just for the record I will definitely NOT be voting on this ridiculous thread.

I have had my differences with Tech, but a long time ago, and he is a valuable educated member, as is Money Tree.

If one of them feels the need to go, fair enough but I have no problem with either, and I am sure most of the longer serving members on ASF feel likewise.

I find both posters in question have something to add to the forum.

I don`t totally agree with them but enjoy the info and interaction.

However, this is extremely RIDICULOUS!

Who cares!

I think if you did a poll on this thread being the most bizarre on here ever. 99 percent of ausstockers would be in the affirmative

i've enjoy both posters, Understanding the different ways people trade is crucial in formulating plans to take money off them

I've learnt heaps from lurking on forums. I dont think its a matter of whether someones methods/opinions are right or wrong as such but how you are going to use this knowledge of how others might trade to your advantage... The threads where people are arguing with strong opinions are my favourite//

From where I'm sitting both tech/a and money tree are making total fools out of themselves by the way they carry on in here.

In my experience, those who personally attack others in forums like this when they disagree with each other's view are simply taking the coward's way out, from a behind a supposedly annonymous nic, of releasing their frustrations due to unsuccesful investments/trades or whatever else might be going on their lives. I haven't seen any verifiable information in any posts from either of you two that proves my perception of you both as wrong.

If someone was truly successful in life, investing, trading or whatever why on earth would they spend so much time in a forum like this personally attacking other posters. If you want to establish any credibility, of which you both have next to zero from what I've seen in your posts, why not try to be constructive when you disagree with each other instead of carrying on like a pair of screaming, crying pre-schoolers.

I'm not going to waste anymore time on tech/a's childish popularity contest poll and certainly won't be voting. There are a lot more important things going on this world atm to be concerned about rather than the petty, childish, dribbling, ramblings of two supposed adults.

I'm not going to take sides in this childish game and I'll leave you two kids to carry on.

Good luck in your endeavours and I hope you both sort out and fix what ever has happened in your lives in the past to lead you to behave in here like you do.

Bottom line: Grow up to both of you and show some maturity and credibility if you want to be taken seriously.

The last few posts have been right on the money.
Both can make valuable contributions and we can learn from both of them.

I do not think they will be great mates- the problem seems to have gone too far. But they seem to be the only ones that get upset by the wasteful personal remarks. Those remarks, from each other about each other, probably get ignored by the rest of us.

I read their posts and learn from the "real" contributions. I ignore the other personal bits - and I think we would be worse off if either of them left.

Abandoning the personal remarks and making continued positive contributions could lift this forum to even greater heights. I am new to this forum and I can see a LOT of talent.

I stubbed my toe. It really, really hurts.

tech/a has shed many words of wisdom and given valuable advice in some of my personal situations.... not know much about money tree... so can't comment.

appreciate the presence of tech/a but me still not voting.

I'm sorry Tech, I enjoy your contribution, I respect your passion and the way you take ownership of your comments but I really think that you need to toughen up a bit.

Passion polarises opinion and an anonymous forum provides a great medium for those on the other side of the coin to get stuck in. As long as you post the way you do on forums you're going to make enemies and this is going to keep happening. You're also going to help out a lot of people and perhaps learn a thing or two about yourself along the way.

You shouldn't be asking us if we think you should stay, you should be asking yourself.

I am somewhat amazed at this thread! I value quite highly the posts that Tech/A makes, his depth of analysis and willingness to share insights with the rest of the forum. Likewise, I find Money Tree's contributions worth reading, often picking up on aspects of a matter I might not have thought of.

It seems to me that you're both posting from your experiences, professional and personal and the nature of this forum means that that is as it should be. We seek diversity of opinion and the opportunity to learn from the mistakes and successes of others. I think it was John Wooden (UCLA Coach) that said "everyday he feels it's important to help somebody who may never be able to reciprocate. That's his obligation." It strikes me that that is a very noble thing to do and is really at the heart of this forum. It's what drives me in this forum and for that matter professionally working with Year 11 & 12 students.

Due to work commitments last October, November & December, I hardly posted a thing. I don't know if anybody missed my lack of posts and it wouldn't bother me if the answer is nobody did. However, if only one person visits these forums and is helped by what I have said or done, then I have achieved my purpose and been able to share my knowledge with somebody else (whom I will probably never know or meet).

Tech/A and Money Tree, if you can see that what you're doing is worthwhile to others and is of itself noble, then I would ask that you stay. However, you must always be true to yourself. The departure of either of you would lead to the forums being less than what they could be. I trust that the spirit of wisdom will guide you both in your decision making.

I'd just voted for you. I hope others like me can see the value in your message instead of your ego. Ideally it will be great if you do not inject your emotion into your message but then that wouldn't be you. We all have ego (who doesn't?), but that does not make your point any more invalid as I can see the sincerity coming through the message. It's a shame that others see you as having a hidden agenda or posting with a vest interest for your effort here.

The most valuable thing one can have in this kind of forum is integrity and honesty. And the only way to uphold a person's integrity in an anonymous forum such as this is through keeping to a single "nick", posting with transparency and consistency without prejudicing others. So far you have passed this test with record to prove that. (Neither did Joe deserve the accusation of manipulating the voting outcome!)

If the members here can't see the difference between you and TREE in terms of integrity, sincerity and the motive behind your contribution then you have nothing to lose in leaving this forum because they don't deserve it.

Being relatively new to this forum, I have to say I find this thread quite disappointing.

It is non-constructive and nobody stands to gain anything from it.

I'm not voting in the poll because I dont know enough about either Tech or Tree but IMO, if somebody threatens to take their bat and ball and go home, then they should make good on their threats.

Such juvenile behaviour should not be tolerated on this otherwise honourable forum.

Sheesh guys... do the honourable thing: pistols at dawn and leave everyone else out of it.

One guy isn't satisfied with a "thank you" from someone who finds his post enlightening. He needs to have it correlated in poll form.

Nothing to do with fence sitters Bobby, more to do with not lowering ASF standards as low as another forum I could mention.

It is a positive that the vast majority of people here haven't voted.

What Tech and Money Tree do is entirely up to them, nobody else.

Suffice to say that the single most useful thing I have learnt on this or any other financial / investment forum was from one of Tech's posts. Some of Tree's comments have been interesting. From a hard factual perspective Tech and his posts do stand scrutiny IMO so I don't pay too much attention to personality issues.

I do, however, dislike a public forum being used as a marketing tool.
