I agree with Dawn (Tomic and Kyrgios)

Ya gotta laugh.

HE finds Dawn Frasers Comments offensive.
HE cant comprehend how HIS comments are Offensive.

Irony.

Think before opening mouth---(The first time).

I am absolutely sure she does, and the whopping penalties she received. Probably the most qualified person to talk on the cost of unaccepted 'behaviour'.
All her offences were pretty minor by todays standards. I really do think young Nick (and Barnard) could learn a lot from having a chat with Dawn. That experience Dawn suffered FAR outweighs that her comment was racist. she already had a truckload of medals, them boys aint got there yet. She has apologised for the comment being construed as racist. Wonder if we see the humble acceptance from Nick and he gets on with the game.
He looks the making of a legend. If they had a jumper on with any footy code and tried that stunt - wouldn't be playing next week!

LOL at it "being construed as racist". If she wasn't intending to be racist she's an idiot.

Why? Isn't Tomic white caucasian, then again isn't that racist there is asian in ' white caucasian'.

$hit I'm white caucasian and I thought I was only a Pommie Bastard, christ you ar$eholes are racist, and I'm white.

So you're racist if you call a pommie , a pommie.lol

I think you get a pass if you say something racist that's directed at those of the same race as you. Like African/Black people can say and use the N word, others can't (unless they're a White rap artist like Eminem).

That and we can't be racist against White people anyway... we all know that White is the master race, superior to all colours and just right below the Aryan back in the 30s and 40s. So if you have to be racist against White, it'll have to be a sub-group of the White, say... red-neck, Southerners, Boggan [?], Northern Queenslanders, hahaha... jk.

.

So Dawn is only 25% racist, because Tomic is White and Kyrgios is mixed race?

Or is Dawn not being racist, and just saying Tomic and Kyrgios are sooks, and need to grow a pair?

And if they can't grow a pair, go and find someone else to represent, we have plenty of prima donnas already.:D

It was a racist remark. But is she racist? I don't think she was.
She was just being old, acting her age? :D

Old people, and White older people in general, have seen a lot of changes in race relations through their life. I mean, not that long ago they couldn't catch the same bus as the coloured people and stuff... so seeing them as also Australian and maybe almost as equal, that's quite a lot of tolerance. And I'm not being smart about it either.

When I'm that age, if I'm still alive, I'm sure I'll embarrass the heck out of the grand kids with some of the stuff I'd say.

Why do Australians put too much pride and whatnot in their athletes? Aren't they just overpaid sports people while most aussies just drink beer and watch sports and while throwing a couple shrimp on the barby?

The fact that they're fit, well paid and actually play sports already made them un-Australians :D

What's racist about telling Tomic to go back to where his parents came from?

I wouldn't take the parents bit literally.
She probably group them together, but telling them to go back to where they came from wouldn't make sense since she knew they were born here. Who knows.

Fact is, you can't tell people to go back blah blah... It mean you do not think here is their home, that they're a foreigner... and it's somewhat worst knowing they were born here then tell them that even though they're born here, they're not Australian.

Whatever happen to the old fashion aussie insult and searing? Without the racist bend? I could listen to that all day, they're pretty funny and very Australian.

SO WHAT'S RACIST ABOUT IT?

Sorry for shouting, but it is all so frustrating, and as usual full of politically correct BS.:D

No wonder Australia is going down the toilet, no one can tell the truth anymore, the FW's have gagged us.

Also the papers are full of useless reporters, that want to churn out cheap crap.IMO

The only good thing, is when we are broke sitting on the street, they will be sitting right along side of us.:xyxthumbs

Actually if I was Dawn Fraser, I would seek legal advice, as to whether there was grounds for a slander case against the media.

Seriously?

OK then.

Seriously?

Yep, it is that unimportant, in the scheme of things.

It is only important for the media, team Tomic and team Kyrgios, for the publicity they can squeeze out of it.IMO

From Australia's perspective, it is a sad indictment, of where we are with social equality.
There was nothing racial about Dawns comments, just an inference to the emotional fragility of their genealogy.

I suppose it summed it up when I read in the paper Kyrgios said he doesn't even like the game.

Well don't play it. duh

I'm not sure the coloured segregation is something that is applicable in Australia, although there were bars in places like Kalgoorlie where the women were preferred separated from the men and blacks, the blacks separated from the white fellas a long way back.

Sometimes it takes a blunt attack , delivered by someone venerable, to put the young in their place. Traditionally it's the great Aunt's role.

I dont think 'racist' was the correct term, it was more like xenophobic. The concept that because he has a european sounding surname, he should "go back where he came from". Its clearly nonsense and a very stupid comment by Fraser, unless you are an aborigine your family come from somewhere else regardless of your surname, we are all boat people!

She could have made her point by simply saying that the behaviour was poor sportsmanship and the players should grow up and behave in a better manner. (that would only have left her open to an accusation of hypocricy given her own behaviour when she was their age!)

I guess the demonisation of refugees and immigrants by the english citizen Mr Abbott has encouraged this sort of xenophobia.

It's not outright racist. But we have this thing in Australia, where as soon as someone behaves poorly, we immediately make it a race thing. If his parents and grandparents were born in australia, he would just be acting like a knob, but because his parents are immigrants, immediately it becomes "if you don't like it, leave".

Can't someone just be called out for acting like an arrogant, attention-seeking sook without it having anything to do with what country their parents are from??

It works in reverse for Adam Goodes, he gets boo'd because people don't like him, and he attributes it to the fact that he's aboriginal.

IMO

What Dawn fails to realise is that Nick was born in Australia, so all the things he learned about bad behaviour was taught to him by his Australian cohort. So maybe he should to back to where his parents came from to remove him from the bad Australian influence on his behaviour.

Gee I just realised that I could get thrown off "Team Australia" for these comments !

Over the years his mind should settle and become balanced but in the mean time- young tongue speak dung.

Maybe not officially with signages since there's so few were non-white?

But there's racism everywhere, in every country. The dominant race always see... maybe all race see the other as inferior, just the racist of the dominant one have a better "claim".

Anyway, Australian seem to have a tendency for banishment. Maybe it traces back to the First Fleet and the convict era. Being sent half way around the world for pickpocketing!

What's racist about telling Tomic to go back to where his parents came from?

As far as I'm aware she never told Tomic to go back to where he came from only Nick Kyrgios.

Hewitt behaved like these two but at least he gave it his absolute all, you'd never see him walk away from a point. Really we haven't had a likeable Aussie since Rafter. The tennis world has been lucky that two of the best of the last decade have actually been good role models (Nadal and Fed).
