I believe that is Paulines thinking, but I'm not speaking for her. I think, from reading her speach, that she is not a racist but she did not want other cultures imposed on her, and nor do I. Nor was she racist in her remarks about aborigines. She wanted them to have no more or no less rights than the rest of the population, and nor do I. She lacked a bit of "polish" in some peoples eyes, and so do I. There are a lot of us around, hard working, average, family oriented, honest (hopefully) aussies worried just where this country is headed and not being able to do a lot about it. At least she tried.Bobby said:Nioka,
Liked your point regarding democracy!
There are certain cultures we don't need in Australia.
Is that racism? Maybe
Am I a racist? No
I must be a Culturist then!
Bob.
Have you read her speech? If not then you are not qualified to comment. If so "please explain" the part you disagree with.rederob said:She can fill the odd vacancy in Fiji's parliament, and her speech would be well in place!
Forget Voltaire! I will not defend your right to say it!
In fact, I'll fight for the right to gag you if I don't agree with your opinions. The lofty notion of defending to the death the right of someone to say something with which we disagree is officially dead through much of the Anglosphere. Today, the primary right that takes precedence over every other right, especially the right of free speech, is the right not to have hurt feelings.

Public 'not interested' in Hanson's views
Prime Minister John Howard does not believe Pauline Hanson will get re-elected to Federal Parliament because he says the public is not interested in what she is saying.
The former One Nation leader says she will contest the next election, but has given no indication of which electorate she will be standing in or whether she intends to run for the Senate or Lower House.
Mr Howard says there is no place in Australia for targeting those because of their race or religion and people are not interested in Ms Hanson's views.
"I don't think people are interested in what she is saying now," he said.
"But I don't think it really helps to target people by reference to their race or religion - I'd like to believe we treat people according to how they behave."
However the last One Nation MP still holding office says Ms Hanson will give Australians a welcome alternative to the major political parties.
One Nation Member for Tablelands in far north Queensland, Rosa-Lee Long, says Ms Hanson will always create controversy because she speaks her mind.
She says Australian residents will support Ms Hanson because she will give the people exactly what they want.
"People like her and myself need to inform the people more of what's going on," she said.
"There needs to be a real debate on the future, there just needs to be a real good debate on that and we want something that the people want, not just what our major political parties are doing at the moment."
nioka said:Looks like the anti Pauline brigade is using the racist tag to belittle her again. What were her racist statements?. She said she was worried we would be overrun by hordes of asians. There are 2 billion asians and a lot of them have standards of living far below ours. Surely a lot of them would like to come here. Our population is 20 million so I can understand her thinking. She also said that she believed in one law and equality for all Australians including aboriginals, Is that racist? I would have thought it would be racist not to want that.
Get off the racist tag. Give her a go, at least she trys. She is a passionate Australian.

Stuff like that is fear-mongering, plain and simple. Where are the percentages, the numbers? What "huge amount" of this past year's African influx have AIDS?? Maybe she can't express herself as well as she should, but at least she should get some stats to back her statements up before she lets loose, that's all I'm saying.
