Hanson to run again

Nioka,

Liked your point regarding democracy!

There are certain cultures we don't need in Australia.
Is that racism? Maybe
Am I a racist? No
I must be a Culturist then!

Bob.
I believe that is Paulines thinking, but I'm not speaking for her. I think, from reading her speach, that she is not a racist but she did not want other cultures imposed on her, and nor do I. Nor was she racist in her remarks about aborigines. She wanted them to have no more or no less rights than the rest of the population, and nor do I. She lacked a bit of "polish" in some peoples eyes, and so do I. There are a lot of us around, hard working, average, family oriented, honest (hopefully) aussies worried just where this country is headed and not being able to do a lot about it. At least she tried.

She can fill the odd vacancy in Fiji's parliament, and her speech would be well in place!
Have you read her speech? If not then you are not qualified to comment. If so "please explain" the part you disagree with.

From my experience the politically correct people are trouble. As are the radicals working off their efforts - on this forum Rerobredbobred. :)

I was watching people put up christmas decorations here in Japan today in a big way - at the bus stop. I thought: at home they don't do this so not to offend minority groups. Weird isn't it.

I feel Pauline is just a mouthpiece for most aussies, and most don't realise it. Most don't see her value, only her weaknesses, which is why I asked free ball who's opinion was he thinking? :) But most see her as a joke politically - yes.

There is a funny song about her on youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRP2ykxN90I

Watch as I get victimised for speaking about this.

Redeadrobobreed, don't even try. I won't respond.

Forget Voltaire! I will not defend your right to say it!

In fact, I'll fight for the right to gag you if I don't agree with your opinions. The lofty notion of defending to the death the right of someone to say something with which we disagree is officially dead through much of the Anglosphere. Today, the primary right that takes precedence over every other right, especially the right of free speech, is the right not to have hurt feelings.

....seems to be the prevailing dogma :(

While I'm an advocate (if not failed practitioner) of personal diplomacy, I agree... totally.

PCness is an evil blight on our society. The thought police are the new Gestapo

Wayne, the previous quote in your previous post was from whom?

I actually heard most of her speech live.
Hansen stands for a lot of average Australians, and many not up to that grade.
Her views are typically of a person who has "heard" something, but not taken the time to "understand".
Her racism is not "veiled", it is relatively open.

Pilskin
Why would you feel "victimised"?
Your views in so many threads on this forum are quite transparent and most readers would be aware of where you are "coming from".
Hansen panders to our "nationalism", and any student of history can tell you where that leads.
There is a distincion between political correctness and stupidity, but in Hansen's case...... well...... she'll get my vote!

I believe just about everyone I know is a racist to some degree. Including myself.
As for Pauline, I would prefer her to Barney Banana in Fiji.

Public 'not interested' in Hanson's views

Prime Minister John Howard does not believe Pauline Hanson will get re-elected to Federal Parliament because he says the public is not interested in what she is saying.
The former One Nation leader says she will contest the next election, but has given no indication of which electorate she will be standing in or whether she intends to run for the Senate or Lower House.
Mr Howard says there is no place in Australia for targeting those because of their race or religion and people are not interested in Ms Hanson's views.

"I don't think people are interested in what she is saying now," he said.
"But I don't think it really helps to target people by reference to their race or religion - I'd like to believe we treat people according to how they behave."
However the last One Nation MP still holding office says Ms Hanson will give Australians a welcome alternative to the major political parties.

One Nation Member for Tablelands in far north Queensland, Rosa-Lee Long, says Ms Hanson will always create controversy because she speaks her mind.
She says Australian residents will support Ms Hanson because she will give the people exactly what they want.
"People like her and myself need to inform the people more of what's going on," she said.
"There needs to be a real debate on the future, there just needs to be a real good debate on that and we want something that the people want, not just what our major political parties are doing at the moment."

I am not in a position to say if PM is right, but his comment alerted me to fact that PM noticed new development.

Pauline should relax - First it was asian migrants (or as her mother labelled them, the 'yellow race'), now it's muslims and (black) africans.

It'll take a long time to topple the amount of Poms and Kiwis flooding in - Ah but that's ok I guess, seeing as they're (predominantly) white

Immigration stats here

good to see some facts...
John Howard has clearly shown that his rhetoric doesn't match is actions. He won a lot of votes on the immigration debate but people are seeing more 'different looking' people than ever before....

Hence, there is a void that Hanson, the politician, is looking to fill... I actually don't think she is a racist, but rather, being a politician, and not having a policy on much else, she figures this is the easiest way to get enough votes to earn herself a senate spot.

Heck, this tactic is tried and proven over many many centuries... Howard himself is a master of it.

I got no problem with a genuine debate about these issues...

i think in the main, most people want all migrants to Australia to i guess adopt Australian culture...

However, there are a lot of hardcore racists who adopt similar philosophies as above, to attract support from ordinary people by well worded statements that seem to potray themselves as fair minded people, genuinely interested in the good of Australia.

Its important to always on the lookout for peoples hidden agenda's...

Looks like the anti Pauline brigade is using the racist tag to belittle her again. What were her racist statements?. She said she was worried we would be overrun by hordes of asians. There are 2 billion asians and a lot of them have standards of living far below ours. Surely a lot of them would like to come here. Our population is 20 million so I can understand her thinking. She also said that she believed in one law and equality for all Australians including aboriginals, Is that racist? I would have thought it would be racist not to want that.
Get off the racist tag. Give her a go, at least she trys. She is a passionate Australian.

Good post.

I am not a devout Pauline supporter - I support myself. But it is wrong when everyone starts using the racist tag card. Get original opinions people, it looks tired when you blurt the racist cry. Equality for all is not being racist. Equality for all people to swim in a pool at the same time, is that racist?

Get some opinions that make sense people. Don't confuse racism with religion or class.

Whether she's a racist or not, she's managed to (yet again) get into the spotlight for singling out particular races of people. She has a way of polarizing people in this country, that's what worries me.

"We're bringing in people from South Africa at the moment, there's a huge amount coming into Australia, who have diseases, they've got AIDS."

Stuff like that is fear-mongering, plain and simple. Where are the percentages, the numbers? What "huge amount" of this past year's African influx have AIDS?? Maybe she can't express herself as well as she should, but at least she should get some stats to back her statements up before she lets loose, that's all I'm saying.

When African countries have half the population with AIDS it should be of concern to you and anyone living on this planet. To take a different perspective on things it is arrogant to think only white people are racist: quite the contrary. Mugabe? Ring any bells? But that might be ok because the arrogant PC people think the whites can handle anything, because they are white. Sense the ironic racism by PC's?
