LOL
That post was tongue in cheek M!! Hence the 4 smileys :)
Nah, I can't be that bad!!! You should check out Wilmott and NP forums, its like that 24/7.

I decided to take the approach: dazzle people with brilliance or baffle em with BS [leaning heavily to the latter] :D

Yeah, thought most likely tongue in cheek! But still, I learned something new tonight - I like that so keep those posts coming... :). I'll ask if I don't understand, but might google first next time...:D

I'm just about to start 'The Option Trader Handbook: Strategies and Trade Adjustments' by George Jabbour & Philip Budwick

Has anyone read it?

Yes, I've read it - it was early on in my options education. I certainly found it helpful at the time. Phil has been very active on quite a few of the option forums based in the US for a number of years. I think he goes under "OptionTradingCoach" at ET. Haven't checked there for a while, so not sure if he still posts there. Seemed to be a genuine guy and appeared willing to share his knowledge freely for others to learn.

Ahhhhhhhsssooooooo! That's who optioncoach is.

Mystery solved, thanks sails. (Haven't seen him posting for ages... but don't blame him. ET can be a poisonous place at times.)

Yeah, that's him - at least I got the coach bit right - lol! I think his name was something like "Spudbarge" at Optionetics. He made it clear he had never done any of their courses, but his posts stacked up with option theory. I see you have to be registered to get into the Optionetics discussion boards now - so perhaps they only want the converted.

G'Day friends,

Can anybody recommend a book which can assist an options enthusiast set up excel spreadsheets.

What exactly are you trying to setup?
Pricing models, API links, etc

Hi Mazza,

What I'd like to do is pull prices off iress into a spreadsheet which then calculates all the greeks in table form just so I can keep a closer eye on total exposure, once I've got that figured out I can expand on it.

I have many books with formulas but due to my non mathematical background I need something else to help set a spreadsheet.

One book I have mind is this "Option Pricing Models and Volatility Using Excel-VBA" , what do you reckon ?

It's a good book...make sure you get the accompanying CD-ROM

If its Greek output you want they provide VBA code for a variety of pricing model:
BSM, Gram-Charlier model, binomial and trinomial trees, Heston (Stoch), FDM etc

There other books like Espen Haug's - but its more applicable to C++

Clearing out my shelf today, and noticed my old copy of Volatility Trading by Sinclair.

Good crossover b/t retail and institutional use
