Feeling the pinch?

I don't have a car. No need.
A bus anywhere costs 50c.
A 30min taxi ride costs $2.
A three coause meal is $3 at a local restaurant.
A loaf of bread is 75c.
A bottle of good rum is $5.

Move to Peru people. :)

Wow, how much is fuel for the 30m taxi to be sooooooo cheap ?

They all run on gas here. And they do it at a VERY low margin.

Funny thing is I just got back from Venezuela where the price of petrol is about 10c a litre, and taxi fares were over the top expensive.

Prices for food are going up everywhere not just Australia. Learn to stop spending and make your teabags last for example. 10 cups from one bag is doable.

lol, I sure my other half will be happy when I tell her she has to use 1 teabag for 10 cups. I'll just tell her we all have to make sacrifices.

We'll all move over there Kennas and push the prices up for you:D

Out of interest Kennas (I lived in Mexico for 6 months), why do you live in Peru? Did you travel there in your military times and enjoy it, or married into the culture?

No need to answer if you don't want, just interests me. My next large holiday destination is South America and Africa, the only two places I have missed so far.

Cheers

Hi MRC, My wife manages a travel company here. She's Australian and got the job almost a year ago. Since I'm mobile, it's all good, but it restricts me just to the share market for the moment. We obviously like South America, but would prefer to be on the Caribbean coast of Central America somewhere. Might be moving there after this. :)

Looks like outgoing MacGrab boss Allan Moss might be doing it a bit tough himself.
Firtly, a 25% pay cut, down to $24.8 million in 2008 from $33.5 million last year.
Rumour at the Millionaires Factory is he took up a second job just to make ends meet.
The future also looks grim now that the company car ( I mean corporate jet) will no longer be on 24 hour call. His peferred daily commuter, the Gulfstream G200 private jet is going to set him back a cool $20 million without any fancy inclusions (such as fuel !). That does not leave much pocket money left over from his golden handshake of $50 million (give or take $10million).
And you think your doing it tough !
Any donations would be greatfully accepted (The accounting boys are currently working on the tax-deductibility status ) .

Looks like the day's of going to the supermarket and grabbing anything you want is gone, suddenly most people I see now are actually buying from a list to avoid over spending, I actually saw someone using a calculator to avoid any nasty surprises at the checkout.

Makes me wonder :rolleyes: the big supermarket chains must be hurting?:p:
