February Stock Competition Entries!

Joe is it possible for the entry criteria to be a minimum of .3 posts per day OR a member for x time?

I just don't seem to have enough to contribute

Dan,

I understand your frustration but I'm unable to change anything now as the current system won't work with the amount of entrants we would have if I dropped the .3 posts per day qualifier. However, at some point over the next three months (or thereabouts) I hope to re-work the competition and do away completely with the posts per day qualification.

I also hope to introduce the following features:

1. Entrants will start out with a bank of $100,000
2. Entrants can buy one stock or as many stocks as they like (Nominal brokerage of $50 will be applied to each trade).
3. Entrants can buy or sell stocks during the course of the month.
4. The entrant with the largest bank at the end of the month wins.

Of course this is all in my head right now and I have to work with a programmer to bring it to fruition but it is one of my biggest priorities at the moment. Just need time and money to make it happen.

Oh, and I forgot to mention:

1. TheAnalyst isn't included because he chose a warrant instead of an ordinary stock.
2. Bobby didn't qualify because his stock was less than 1 cent at the deadline.
and;
3. Kipp and crackaton didn't qualify because their posts per day counts weren't above the qualifying level.

ctp, thank you for your kind words and even kinder offer! I am indeed humbled by your generosity.

I will put some thoughts down on paper over the next week or so and email that and the source code for what we have at the moment to you. Feel free to send me a PM at any stage if you have any questions you'd like to ask etc.

You're totally welcome Joe. I think it will be a fun project to work on and I think everyone will enjoy the result if we do it right. I think a competition where people can actively manage their portfolios rather than just having to stick with one stock the whole time would be cool. That way people who tend to trade for the shorter term will not be disadvantaged!

Anyway as soon as you have all the details ready please PM them to me and I'll get started immediately!

Thanks for letting me know surelle... I took a look and it seems to be a problem with Yahoo stock price data (specifically SEA). Lets hope it gets fixed soon.

Well congratulations to both Clowboy and Nizar for taking first and second spot in the February competition! Clowboy increased his lead even further in the final straight, finishing up on a remarkable 58.62% return with JGL. Nizar came in second with EXT and achieved a very respectable return of 27.94%. Rounding out the top five were Sandik17, Tarnor and Porper who had tipped ENG, CAZ and PSV respectively! Well done!

Clowboy and Nizar could you both send me a PM regarding your prizes!
