EVN - Evolution Mining

cents 90 cents one of my many reflective moments.
Console yourself you don't hold RRL

Not Held
well i hold both RRL and EVN

but i hold ( and add occasionally ) EVN , because it took a cost-reduction/asset efficiency strategy well before the rising costs issue was apparent to others ( while NST for example was busy buying more underground resources )

i also hold NST

my only regret with EVN is i haven't had a second opportunity to buy at sub 90 cents ... yet

am currently up 19% on EVN ( and took a little off the table on the way )
not as sexy as NST but does stuff like a business that wants to be still a going concern in 20 years ( not boom or bust or buy-out )

A number of gold stocks perhaps pre-empting a breakout in POG. They sometimes lead the actual metal which is an interesting phenomenon. Not counting my golden goose eggs before they hatch.

Re. POG. I've seen/heard lots of chatter about central banks stocking up on gold, no doubt this is helping the goldies.

Reuters (Jan 2023)

Central banks bought the most gold on record last year, WGC says

LONDON, Jan 31 (Reuters) - (This Jan. 31 story has been officially corrected to say that 2022 central bank gold demand was the highest in records since 1950, not since 1967)

Kitco (Oct 2023)

Central banks buy 77 tonnes of gold, helping the precious metal resist rising bond yields

Central bank demand continues to dominate the gold market and could be a significant factor in why the precious metal continues to hold critical long-term support levels in the face of rising bond yields and persistent U.S. dollar strength.

The World Gold Council reported Wednesday that central banks bought 77 tonnes of gold in August, an increase of 38% compared to July's purchases. The WGC noted that during the last three months central banks have bought 219 tonnes of gold. The analysts said that central bank demand is on course to see healthy demand for the year.

Strange. I thought they had their debt well under control. Maybe they have some acquisition plans.

came from left-field for me , maybe taking the opportunity of a stronger share price or maybe planning to pump more cash into some of their joint ventures

i guess we will have to wait for the sales-pitch ( for the cap. raising )

( none dare suggest a wider credit freeze across the commercial markets )

hmmmm didn't EVN sell it's interests in a mine in Cowral ( not so long back )

EVN has been reducing so many assets i am starting to lose track of their operations

Well, the recent breakout is probably going to be short lived.

After a quick squiz at North Parks I don't know why they're buying it.

I can't see what the upside is to 25K Cu and 38K Au pa. $500m for that? I'm confused.

maybe there is under-explored potential and if they still have a mine at Cowral maybe some synergies

but it sure as heck doesn't scream 'buy @ $3+ ' to me

sure it is currently a long-life mine , but doesn't the Parkes area have some flooding issues from time-to-time ( i used to have rellies there in the '60s/'70s )

Sumitomo kept their 20% interest so maybe there is value i am not seeing

speaking of gold miners , look at how the market reacted to today's WGX ann. which at first glance looked a lot better ( but i am guessing WGX is chasing veins there )
