Comparing levels of wealth

I met a guy last week, a trader, who owns 28 houses, a helicopter & a plane and has a fleet of yachts around the globe. He's not happy with his life. I consider myself far wealthier than he.

Thats a good effort !!

Well they say money doesnt buy happiness but id rather by crying on a 100footer then on the streets!

The sad part is, a bit like the fate of the great speculator Jesse Livermore, if this guy continues in the way he's begun, maybe one day he will end up on the streets...

a lot of people are cash poor but are asset rich......

I hate to think this guy is not happy. Tell him I'll take the chopper, a few yachts and a handfull of the houses if it will help out.

Evidently you cant have wealth and be happy at the one time without distribution to those who arent in the position to survive without help.

I find it interesting that people have to sponsor people in third world countries when there are tragic stories right here in Australia. Infact in most families.

sorry folks, I think we're getting too greedy The fact that we live in Aus is probably more wealth than the average mortal is gonna find in one lifetime.

Mate - I met a taxidriver from Ghana - (one of the better african situations) - he has emigrated to aus. Anyway his wife was pregnant with twins, and he (rather foolishly, jokes about it now of course) thought that he'd be up for massive medical bills - after all that's what would have happened back in Ghana. He was almost too frightened to ask the hospital about payment options, fearing they wouldn't accept his wife in the Labour ward. (again what happens in Ghana). Anyway, he stopped sweating when he discovered that the medical system here took care of almost everything.

ps Tech - I agree, third world, or poor aussies, (salvos etc). Again , a lot of country folk make less than the dole on average. I have a relative (fairly distant conceded), a young girl who has her own family, her boy has a broken arm, husband has a broken hip from a horse fall, she has to feed starving cattle, massive feed bills and work 4 days in town to pay some contribution to help stem the plunging financial predicament etc etc. We - the rest of us - don't know how lucky we are.
