Can anyone recommend trading software?

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

Can also try:

Metastock

There are more, some are subscription-based and some are more expensive then others:

BullCharts
FchartsSE
Investor R/T
Sierra Charts
Ensign
NinjaTrader
TradeStation
TradeGuider
Market Delta
WindoTrader
ATrader

Do these programs show Rate of Change(ROC) and High/Low indicators or Advanced Decline for Indexes and ASX stocks

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

Sorry Nero I was just providing a list for the sort of programs data could do his own research on.

ROC - I would be surprised if this wasn't included in most packages. I can give you a definite yes for Metastock and Investor R/T though.

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

try freestockcharts.com, they offer pretty good charts.

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

I must to odd one out.

Currently exploring Incredible Charts, but already placed order for iPulse from Monebags. Is has inbuilt MarketScan EOD.
Hope that it has been good choice

Charting software

after advice for charting software, where to buy it what to buy as a newbie any comments pls

Re: charting software

Depends what you need and what you will use it for ...

Test the waters a bit by just using free stuff and try to implement/explore your own trading/investing style ... you'll be suprised that you might not even need extensive software ... and some free sites are enuff.

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

Has anybody tried Intrepid Trader by Trading Synergy inc?

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

If you are looking for charting software your best bet is to look at Amibroker and Metastock.

The advantage is that there is alot of support and users who share ideas on these platforms.

protrader and Bedford's looks decent but the support may not be there.

If you don't plan to trade of a chart then R and Matlab would be good.

Good Luck

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

Hey, thanks White, looks really interesting (and comprehensive!)
I'd never heard of it.
Will play with it over weekend.
Cheers.

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

Kam 75,

Have you used other programs besides protrader aswell? Like Amibroker... how do they compare?

I like how protrader looks easy to use and you can use the darvas box trader aswell.

Any thoughts and reasons why you prefer protrader?

Thanks in advance

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

I've been using proreal time EOD for a while. I love the proreal time charts and layout I think its a really simple and clean layout with loads of indicators and drawing tools.

I have just signed up for the free week trial of the live asx data feed. It looks pretty good, But you only get access to the most recent market depth. Ie the first line. Not that its a big issue.

I have just been comparing prices with other companies who offer a live asx feed and the general price going around seems to be anywhere between $120to $160 a month. No im not including the crap IRESS which is priced at about 80 a month because that is pathetic.

Pro Real time live asx feed is priced at around $130 a month Au. Depending on the exchange rate at the time.

It seems on par with everyone else so i guess it comes down to personal preference. I guess the benefit with proreal time is you dont have to pay for software as its all free where as paritech or bourse want you to buy their software first which is around $400- $500. I believe netquote offer their "equity" program for free and you can purchuse a live feed for $150 a month.

These programs may offer a little more data in the way of market depth, news, support etc but pro real time is more than fine in my opinion.
