Can anyone recommend trading software?

Re: Trading Programs - What are you using????

i believe wetpucs traderpro is just IRESS? so nothing special really.
you should try a demo of iress if your interested in it. Plenty of sites that give you access to demos of it.

Well Thank You Supermatt !! from the sweeping glances on this thread "IRESS" does'nt provide the full back up ie it's basic. I will look into it over the busy weekend!

Lastly with these dynamic data downloads does it chew up your gigs from your internet provider monthly allowance ?

if you read some of my posts on iress here you will understand that i hate it with a passion lol
yeh IRESS is real basic, do you intraday trade? because if you do there is no back dating the intraday charts. So they only chart the current days trading which is the most pointless thing anyone could possibly to do a charting package.

Pretty sure it uses minimal downloads, the only package that will chew up your downloads is quotetracker.

metasuck is ok but that doesnt really solve anyones problem if they want to intraday trade seems you still need a live data feed. It may be fine for eod but thats where it ends.

Well Supermatt you have got my attention!!!!:D
I trade the stocks on a minute by minute situation, and cumbersome it is keeping to press the refresh button. Also my biggest anguish is trying to follow 2 stocks at a time is frenzied trading ,,,,eg yesterday IGR make an announcement ....I by chance realise this fact sell IGR and minutes latter miss out on a buying opportunity.
These are my current needs ,a screen that uploads info/data live showing me a "few" stocks that Im following or focused during the day.
My strategies are no different from anybody elses I guess, it's just methodolgy of finding the correct application that is paramount for the moment. I need to step up to a new level. I am frustrated by what I have for sure!

Just reread your reply it seems the term I'm searching for is " live feed for intra day trading" I have looked last night at Spark via youtube presentation, and one other forget the glossy name!

well you sound like a pretty serious trader then and probably need something better than iress, especially seems your trading off the 1 minute charts.
doubt iress would be much good to ya because you really need 10 plus days of historic intraday data to find s and r on the intraday charts to be able to make educated trading decisions, its useless only supplying the current day... unless you find staring at about 10 candlesticks interesting :S

Spark in my view is way to expensive, never used it before so unsure of charting, I think they more specialize in market depth analysis etc. That seems to be their proprietary selling point.

It all really comes down to what your willing to pay. You could pay to get paritech pulse or bourse data or spark for like $150 -200 a month or my preferred option, sign up with IG markets and get an asx live feed for only $37 bucks a month :) :) :) which they use the IT finance charts. Some people say their data isnt that accurate which it probably isnt as I have found a few times its incorrect but its pretty good.

OR another option, get an etrade account and use etrade pro, NOT power etrade as that is just the useless IRESS. Etrade pro is good because you can see intraday data on about 5 or 6 different time frames and is the same price as IRESS per month ($80)

Sorry to say I don't use charts, like others do as such, because I'm so quickly in & out of the stock 95% of the time (it's my Patersons Curse{shades of Marcus Padley-joke!!!}, or achilles heel ).As for candlesticks, they burn to much of my time. I do look at market depth ,volumes traded ,falling prices constantly and a few others aspects. It's not rocket science sorry to say, the only science is to have fluid capitol.Sorry rattling on a tangent.....

Yes you are right Spark maybe expensive ,but you pay for what you get ,and its a competive market to entice a dull punter, afterall its like HiFi gimmicks to me.

The strange thing is that I use Westpac because I control all funds under one umbrella. BUT using somebodies elses sofware to navigate my trading during the day is my current avenue of thought .Sure I can shuffle the money after trading hours ,but I hate working after grazing at a computer screne all day. Etrade is a distant option at present. Perhaps if I was honest I would love Westpac to update its trading services .

I like the option of "IG markets " that you have alerted me to. Shall delve into what they offer late this evening.

I have noticed you and others recommend a system and underline the fact that its "not accurate" as in your last comment .....can you be so kind & give perhaps a example or what has concerned you about the product .
Again many thanx for the correspondence in this thread .... more then appreciated.....
Also Amibroker is another thread topic I need to digest ,seems all Greek & beyond me but in its madness of formuli there must be money in it .:2twocents

lol sorry i didnt realise u dont use charts
well yeh spark might be something you would like seems its got all that volume and depth analysis stuff. You should go trial it, they give you a free 2 week trial. no harm
its only really 1 winning trade and you pay off the fees for the month anyway.

yeh well having your bank and trading account linked are always handy seems you can transfer instantly, it is a long drawn out process other wise but what can ya do.

not sure what you mean by failed systems? in terms of IG's data being slightly inaccurate at times? I just mean sometimes the prices may be 1 or 2 cents off what they really are, I havnt really examined it as I only used a trial to have a look but it seems there prices may be abit off at times on certain stocks. It didn't concern me at all but im not a scalper so a few cents here or there doesn't really matter to me.

In terms of using the etrade platform, you dont have to trade with them, i dont, i just got an account so i could use there features :)

and seems you don't use charts it probably will b no help to you as thats all they have on there (charts ) no depth or anything.

Haaaaaaaaaa OK love your comment re: "scalper" OK a few shekels here & there make the world go round ! but sure I do my fractions in fractals.

No comments on "Amibroker" ???

As for charts ,I should have said I don't use charts during the day trading ,evenings I do from time to time. But I'm no tactician on the technical matters of triganometry (schpelling??).

I think you should stay with what you know, If property is your game, stick to property.

If you are referring to my flurry of posts , then sure you have a point, but I have no intentions of remaining ignorant of what products or tools are available .
Oddly enough I was trying to convince my wife to buy 2 units in Miami only last month .....my wife is too conservative in her bricks and mortar dept, she likes to see it, smell it, then consider options . One reason I only gave her 2 options in an engagement ring, as long as it was bought in Hatton Garden she was content .
