Re the boxer. Hmmmmm always tough when this comes up.

On balance, I think it's tough cheddar. Rules is rules.

If the rule is bad, then change it. But surely this must have come up before, as others have said. As the rule stands... too bad.

Its interesting how all this stuff is happening only recently... same as what you were saying yesterday i.e seeing more women covering up nowadays...


fundamentalism is certainly spreading and becoming more mainstream in the last couple of years... maybe it cause muslims feel they are under attack and feel the need to stand up for something!!!

Totally disagree,I believe that its a much more dangerous situation than that.
Maybe its political correctness gone wrong,I don`t know ,but too many people are making excuses for these scummy people,when those terorrists were arrested in Melbourne they refused to bow to the court,the lawyer explained that it was against their religion to aknowledge our courts,tell me Rafa how far would you or I have got in one of their country using that uxcuse.Even as we speak London is again under threat,I think the time has come for people to stand togheter and say,out,you are either respectful of our culture and many religions or you are out.

The only one under attack is us,our freedoms and culture.

In the UK census, over 390,000 (0.7% of the population people put their religion down as Jeddi or Jeddiism. Does this mean it counts as a religion? If it does, it is the UK's fourth largest religion.

Like i said its got nothing to do with his faith its just his embarrased about his penis size. I can't blame him :eek:

Ah, but aint that the rub! By defending our freedoms and cultures we may in the process destroy other people's right to theirs! The ulitmate paradox for our society I feel! ;)

I dont know :confused: my confusion I suppose comes from accepting that what we consider wrong for ourselves we could go and consider right for other people, supposedly basing it on their culture.For example taking the bane of my life,why should these women ,one,be encouraged to cover up and two ,why should we go out of our way to accomodate their backward view on life,when we go to muslim countries we are told to behave in a way as to not cause offence yet when these people visit or come to live in Christian or western countries we are expected to turn a blind eye to the freedoms that we have fought tooth and nail for just to accomodate them or more likely their husband or fathers.
Take the Italian proposal by a mayor of a holiday place,he wants to set up a muslim beach ,so only women allowed and only muslim allowed because who else is going to go to the beach on their own,The beach is for relaxing and having fun with your family and friends.And these don`t come in one gender.Importantly though no beach is being discussed for men only,hmmm.See my point.For some reason the hijab is now seen as part of their religion,when in fact it isnt,if you speak to modern muslim women they laugh when you enquire why they dont wear the hijab,everytime in my experience the explanation has been the same,uneducated people wear that,do you see what I mean,we are allowing uneducated men to change things for a good size of the population who don`t necessarily want it changed,they want to progress and yet are held back and we are helping them to be held back.

The article you posted is more of a story of an overzealous person at the post office hypothesising why the passport office requires a close up photo of the face. Its for security reason and proper identification, especially of eye colour, incase your wondering... rather than anything to actually do with a muslim appeasement poilicy.

To be honest, I am struggling to work our your agenda in all this... ! Your obsession with womens right to expose and dress any way they want is quite incredible... You seem to be bringing up this topic on every thread (including the one on 9/11)....


Anyway, forget about that...

I am interested in your opinion on the present status of women in the western society... especially considering the pr0n industry... both hardcore and softcore... (TV, magazines like zoo, etc...)... or the girls kidnapped from east europe / asia, etc to work as sex slaves... I may be wrong... but the booming pr0n industry, seemed to conincide with the womens liberation movement...

You also got to look at the stats on cosmetic surgery, and women always complaining about how its all about appearance now... to see that sometimes customs evolve in a society for a reason... (It wasn'nt that long ago...(couple of generations back) when even the western women were encouraged to 'cover up' and dress respectfully..)

I hope you do succeed in your quest to free muslim women... but I hope you also look around you and see the avg teenager on the street, or see the TV, magazines etc... who define 'cool' as the amount of skin that is exposed!

I am interested to hear what yours (and anyone elses) thoughts are on these other side effects...
 
Rafa the overzealous clerk concentrated on the shoulders,re-read the article and you`ll see what I mean.
My infatuation with this issue,probably because no one else seems bothered by the oppression of women,and too many times we hear how this type of oppression is about religion,well it isnt. Sorry for being bothersome,not my aim.
