Best hangover cures?

I drink Hahn super dry [no preservatives] and after 20 off them I get quite ill

Haha but imagine how crook you would be if it was carlton cold or something.
20??? you sound like someone who pees in the wardrobe by mistake.

Drink beer with no preservatives, no hangover.
Right on T. The yeast in home-brewed buffers the alcohol through your liver, and there are B group vitamins in it too. And home-brewed tastes better. Much better.

Other than that, take B group vitamins, especially B12, and big glass of water before you go to bed. You'll be surprised.

BTW Fairfax press is running an article today, try smh.com.au

Meanwhile Smurf, who did not drink at all on NYE, has come down with the flu.

Panadeine Forte (or the panadol/paracetamol tablets with Codeine) usually does the trick for me.

Drink water before going to bed helps for the next morning too.

I haven't seen anyone recommend salty food. Much of the cause of a hangover is dehydration caused by alcohol being a diuretic.

If you have e.g. bacon, cheese, vegemite etc, in conjunction with lots of water, your body will retain the fluid and homeostasis will return more quickly.

The recommendations for sugary stuff are very short lived and primarily involve a quick burst to your blood sugar. It actually does nothing for diluting the alcohol.

Probably already mentioned, but I know that according to the scientific research, the ONLY thing they have found so far that does anything is fructose (the sweetest sugar).
I forget why it helps though unfortunately.

Start before the hangover.

Litre of water with a barocca before bed.

AND

Ibuprofen with Codeine when you wake.

If that fails

Hair of the Dog

I'm on the wrong end of of this thread with a cask of smirnoff and cranberry in the fridge.....so refreshing

Another good one that people who can get their hands on it, is bottled oxygen. I know lots of doctors and nurses, if hungover when they go to work, just put the oxygen on for 10 minutes and, magic, problem fixed.

Also saline solution as a drip. Heaps of med students i went to college with just used to hook themselves up to the saline drip after a big night

Also popular with air crew.
