BA - Boeing Co. (NYSE)

Yeah, WW2, no worries.
I look at what is happening in Ukraine to see where warfare is heading.

Mick
Russia has been using Glide bombs.

Boeing produces very cost effective kits called “Jdams” which can turn a normal large “Dumb Bomb” into a guided smart bomb.

Sometimes you just need to be dropping large amounts of heavy bombs on strategic targets, Boeings Jdams are perfect for this, and are dropped from fighter jets.

Boeing sell multiple types of kits, ranging from ones that just slightly alter the course of a bomb using the tail fins, through to winged gliders and winged jet propelled ones.

The first photo below is of a standard mark 84 Bomb, mass produced and stock piled by the USA and other NATO countries. Originally designed to just drop unguided.

Second photo is of the jdam kit attached the bomb, as I said boeing sells these kits and they range from just tail fins to full wing kits.

Well I don’t think either you are me is an air warfare strategist, but the whole point of fighter aircraft is that they can defend themselves, these “larger aircraft” you want to use to launch drones would be susceptible to attack from enemy fighters. Think back to WW2 and how bombers needed fighter escorts.
fighters , missiles , and even drones ( used as missiles ) , the larger aircraft are large targets and have reduced maneuverability ( compared to the interceptors )

however the smaller fighter/interceptor normally lacks the range of the bomber ( and needs extra fuel strategies )

for an interceptor , slow and lots of weapons/ammo works as well since a bomber is more about payload ( bombs ) than self-defense

Also, Just to show how cost effective a Fighter jet dropping JDAM is compared to say the USA HIMARS missile.

HIMARS missiles cost $168,000 and deliver 91kg of explosives to target.

JDAMS Bomb and Kit together cost only $45,000 but deliver 429 Kg of explosives.

Also, missiles are slow to produce, the Jdams bombs and kits can be made in large numbers quite quickly.

and the Russian hyper-sonic missiles may not even have an official payload just mass+velocity ( and the heat generated ) which makes me wonder .. where does Russia use all that excess fertilizer created with their abundant gas resources

a wonderful paradox of policy agendas ( Germany is boycotting gas as much as possible but ramping up military production , Russia now has an excess of gas .. but needs less of it for the newer weapons )

That is a bit far from Boeing thread?
Back on focus:
But for the fact i fly their planes, to date and from memory, i have never bought any Boeing share.
Too much mix between defence and civilian market to be a sector trend favorite IMHO
I play Raytheon or similar for defence stocks

I own Boeing in the index, but through Berkshire Hathaway I own precision cast parts which is Boeings largest parts supplier.

The interesting part about Boeing is that up until the COVID pandemic, Boeing was dividend royalty I think they went over 50 years steadily increasing their dividend, they only time the dividend went down was after a share split.

i was going to mention Trumps endorsement of the F-47 6G fighter ( being designed by Boeing )

but then folks might have mistaken the thread for a comedy thread
