Anthony Robbins

I like Tony's stuff, but I can see where wayne is coming from. Tony teaches that to motivate someone (including yourself), you need to use both the "carrot and the stick", also known as pain and pleasure. He also says that of the two, pain and/or fear of pain is the most powerful at getting someone to act or change their behaviours. Therefore, if a person has a fear of not being good enough or not measuring up, these feelings of inadequacy can be used to fuel them to "succeed" (or most likely drive them to achieve outer status symbols while still feeling inadequate inside). However, I've found that if you change what you link pain and pleasure to, and remove ego from the equation, the material is really quite effective.. and is definitely an accurate model in explaining human behaviour. Know yourself and use with caution.

I'd suggest doing a broad Google search on guru Robbins. Throw his supposed "fire-walking" into the mix and even look into the science related to this.

Such gurus exploit vulnerabilty [and I deliberately did not say "gullability"].

Oh he knows how the human mind works. Neuro-linguistic programming is a workable technique that is applied practically. He writes some fascinating stuff about the workings of mind and particularly the modeling of success. Much of his in-depth teaching is over my head so I have never practiced.

I located the book I bought which has all the NLP stuff with the modelling theory and techniques. The fire walk is a parlour trick that helps people overcome fears. Except for those that get burnt.

Like every educator they all have their limits. To me i find the best parts in each 1 and try to apply it in my life.

Robbins has good motivational techniques
Kiyosaki has good financial education techniques
Tony Horton has a good training program etc....

The list goes on, i never get caught up with spending thousands on 1 educator but listening, reading and finding what suits you.

I had the most excellent fortune to be gifted an Anthony Robbins Wealth Mastery ticket in 2007 from my ambitious, motivated mechanic mate who has spent many thousands on his financial and life education... the course was worth something like 10 grand and lasted a week. I was very humbled that he gave it to me, and was even happier when I got there. I found a lot of like minded people who were all striving to make their life better in some way (they certainly weren't vulnerable no hopers, I met a heck of a lot of motivated and successful people there), but for some reason they either didn't have the systems in place to get them where they wanted to go or they were missing something in their lives.

I hadn't really looked much into AR prior to this but I gotta say he is incredible, very much a people person and his training systems are world class. I felt like I could take on Mike Tyson after that, and it gave me the confidence and conviction to actually start investing and to learn more about trading etc. Having said that, it was probably a bad time for me to learn that stuff as the GFC started about 4 months after that... but I've come through it a much stronger person for it. I'd recommend at least going to a presentation of his with open eyes and try to look at it for face value rather than just be jealous of his success, he's been very successful for a reason.

Enough said other than to suggest that NLP is also worth researching thoroughly and to comment that there is a similarity between AR charging fees rather like a "wealth creation" seminar guru.

Yes, the man can motivate -- particularly short-term and he can certainly create dreams.

I've seen this kind of motivation and delusion far too often over too many years.

I've also dealt with the damage. Rather like stocks -- research and avoid buying on emotion.

Just my thoughts.

So what you are saying mate is that it was an absolute crock of **** for you, yet you still believe in it.

I cannot understand your mindset.
