Another Asian plane goes missing

Debris confirmed to be from QZ8501. At least the relatives can have some closure.

In latest news, the Indon Navy reported they have already retrieved about 50 bodies.

For the families, it should provide certainty to grieve and find closure.
For worried travelers, it ought to provide relief that this was nothing sinister, but a rare accident that can happen at any time, but rarely does. As has been said repeatedly before: Air traffic is the safest mode of transport.

That TV program "Air Crash Investigations" has a lot to answer for.

It is a great series, but who would watch it prior to boarding an aircraft?

I did 227,250 (that's roughly 3,000 off a personal record) miles this year, that's a f**kload of flying. I also watch ACI. Until they invent a ship that goes fast...Oh wait, have you seen how many large ships went AWOL this year?:D

This isn't anything to worry about.

In about ten days time I am booked to go Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia, and back with Malaysian airlines. As long as the super-sized meal I ordered with AA is OK-what more could you hope for.
(Hard to get reasonable fares in the school holidays)

A couple of years ago, my wife and I were returning back from Singapore.
The pilot had asked the cabin staff to arm the doors, when two middle eastern looking guys stood up and asked to get off.

They stood up walked down the isle with no hand luggage and just got off.

Well I said to the wife here we go we will all have to get off, take our luggage and they will do sweep of the plane.

No, they just locked the doors and off we went.:1zhelp:

That was the longest trip home ever.

I wouldn't worry about it chiff, I have flown AA many times and find them quite good and I will fly with them in the future too. Besides, Qantas have had there problems with emergencies lately too. I remember one running off the end of the runway and ending up in a golf course in Bangkok some years ago. They are all the same in the end, only the on board service and logos are different. Have a good trip.:xyxthumbs

This one is interesting...

2003 Boeing 727-223 Disappearance

Shortly before sunset on 25 May, two men are believed to have boarded the plane, one of them being American pilot and flight engineer Ben Charles Padilla.[5] The other was a hired mechanic from the Republic of the Congo. Neither man was certified to fly the Boeing 727, which normally requires three aircrew. Both men had been working with Angolan mechanics to get the plane flight-ready. Padilla is believed by U.S. authorities to have been at the controls.[6]

The aircraft began taxiing without communicating with the control tower. It maneuvered erratically and entered a runway without clearance. The tower tried to make contact, but there was no response, and the tracking transponder was turned off. With its lights off, the aircraft took off, heading southwest over the Atlantic Ocean. Neither the plane nor the two men have been seen since.[7]

Russians have the hide to refute Dutch findings on MH17. Rogue state.

Mr Putin said.

“Our pilots and our plane did not in any way threaten Turkey."…

“Our pilot and our plane did not in any way threaten Russia"…

Passengers on flight MH17

I think it would be a matter of the automatic systems kicked in on seeing a Russian fighter signature over Nato airbase and the Nato operators couldn't tag it off in time.

Saw picture of Obama patting Hollande's shoulder at the White House. There there, cheer up buddy, we're gonna blow up Syria and ISIS with ya.

Will China now pat Putin's shoulder to cheer him up too?

Brain power is a rare commodity. Firepower on the other hand... You go to war with what you have, not with what you wish you have. :xyxthumbs
