LOL.

I'm feeling old now.......

Perhaps I posted too much early on talking about the meaning of life......

Will never catch Realist while he's virtually unemployed though.... :)

Actually when I am unemployed I'll post less, I'll be at the beach, watching cricket, or playing golf....

Work is the perfect time to post here... :D

That’s a lot of posts kennas…

Interesting rating system we have, isn’t it?

(I don’t mean to talk about “him” – like Oscar Wild said, “There’s one thing worse than being talked about, and that is NOT being talked about!”): has attained “Veteran” status by making such a host of “sagacious” posts, when someone as able and as experienced as Lesm for example has the title “Junior member”.

What do you think kennas? It just doesn’t seem right to me when a resident clown and king of red herrings receives a high rating for posting tons of manure and drivel, while other quality posters have tags like “newbie” and “junior” when many of them are really piquant posters, but post only occasionally.

If I had a choice I’d scrap the whole rating regime, it doesn’t reflect anything other than how many posts you’ve made…

Anyway kennas, good to see, keep up the good quality posts!

Regards

I tend to agree. Perhaps peoples posts can be rated by other members and a consensus/average rating be placed against someone's title. Or, maybe nothing....I'm happy just been kennas at The Black Cat. :D

I agree, this isn’t a popularity contest, heaven forbid, or a race to see who can post the most, I thought it was the exchange of ideas that is important.

Now you’ve done it Joe!

All the “Veterans” will be crying, and the witch hunt will begin for the originator of this line of thinking… The newer posters will be happy though!

I bet there is a brief backlash, but it’s for the best.

I just think I’ll take a holiday for a year or two and get in a witness protection program, grow a moustache and get a bullet proof vest, some monster sunglasses and a big Stetson for when I go outside!

Shaking with fear…

Mag, I long ago accepted that no matter what decisions I make regarding ASF there are going to be some members that think it was a bad decision and some that will think it was a good decision.

As a forum administrator I truly am damned if I do and damned if I don't. It's inescapable. I will never be able to make everyone happy.

But from my perspective it's just one less thing for me to worry about now. 5000 member registrations was the perfect time to ditch it.

Time to move on. :)

Hello Joe,

Oh I agree, not an easy position to be in at all, but sometimes you have to make executive decisions. I happen to agree strongly with this one.

It should result in people paying more attention to the content, and the labels could have been misleading for newer readers.

I think it reflects the level of maturity of the site, so well done!

But I liked being a Veteran!! :( Boo Hoo!!

This post was supposed to be all about me and people telling me how great I was, and now.....I have no self esteem at all!! How will I cope! Now I'll have to find another forum that rates me!

LOL

Good work Joe!

Have you thought about the baggage handler job to Prague?

Sean K (Veteran!)

You'll always be a Veteran Member to me kennas. :D

Baggage handler, eh? Only if you can fit in my baggage. ;)

So Funny kennas! ROTFLMAO!!!

Kennas, well done on 1000 posts. To be honest, yours are among the few i read for a good technical perspective.

Your a veteran to me.

As for Realist, his are the ones i read when i'm bored and in need of entertainment. I would miss the 'call a spade a spade' attitude.

Cheers all,

Hi Joe,
Another forum that i have visited in the past uses 'Reputation Points' as a way of scoring posters. Any member can give postive/negative reputation points to another member for a good/bad post, i think that could work well here(if not abused).

Ive been trying to keep track of which members consistently post quality information, and who should be looked up to and who to learn from, a system like that may make it easier to distinguish the good community members who add valuable information.

[wipes away a tear]

This forum was the first time since High school that I had the title "senior". Now that it's gone, what have I got? Nothing! :(

A sad day for the professor :D

What about me? I was about a month off graduating to Senior grade.

Mrs Duckman has bought her formal outfit. I'd organised the limo. What am I going to tell her!!!

Trapped a "Junior" for eternity. :bricks1:
