Okay so we are now into day whatever of the saga of naked footballers. (I understand they look just like me except a bit better built..) What do we make of the protagonist, the girl who is furiously/gleefully promoting the pictures and herself around the net ? The hundreds of people who are geeing her on ? The rest of us who think we are seeing a spectacular slow motion train wreck ?

If Wikileaks is systematically dismantling the security of our governments and businesses then dikileaks is also madly uncovering the bleeding obvious - that under our clothes we are all naked. But it is also raising the issue of how do we protect of our privacy ? Do we now accept that perhaps everyone shares common bodily features and that we should get over prudishness?

I won't post details of the person involved but it isn't hard to find her online. It's probably worth the effort to see and hear what she says as well as the support she is getting to get a flavour of what is happening. She is certainly determined to have her 15 minutes fame. This internet stuff is very addictive.

Thoughts ?

The Age is starting the discussion on this aspect of the story.

Teen adds tech touch to wrath of a woman scorned

IT HAS become a parable of the internet age: a girl, a laptop and a swath of destruction through high-profile football careers. Cyberspace is full of mocking laughter over the posting of naked photos of St Kilda footballers by a vengeful teenager - ''The Girl who played with Nick playing with himself'', she's been dubbed, while her enterprise is ''Dickileaks''.

Meanwhile, the combined might of several powerful institutions has proved hapless, if not helpless, in attempts to silence her. Even with her name shielded, the girl's following on Twitter had last night swollen to more than 6500 followers (up from about 200 the day before) and the hissing spat that has developed between her and some of St Kilda's finest reached new heights - or should that be lows?

Not supprisingly the article is written by a women, i could have picked it in the title even. This is going to get turned into a womens rights issue for sure.

These footballers really put a face to the word bogan, i'm sure this girl isn't much better either. Who the hell still looks upto these guys? lol

Haven't really followed the story, but i think its more of a case of boys being boys rather than bogans per se.

When you are surrounded in a male dominated environment, young, and making good dollars then your reality tends to get a bit distorted no matter how many 'seminars' etc you have. Same with big areas of the finance industry it's just not as much in the public spotlight :2twocents

Brendon distributes a photo of Lara to his football player mates, without her knowledge or consent and it ends up on the internet. The media demonises Lara and gives lip service to what a naughty boy Brendon was to pass the photo arround his mates.

Girl posts photo of naked footballer on the web and the media demonises her and tries to make out she is an extortionist etc etc.

Talk about double standards. The biggest joke is the football players mate was saving the photo on his lap top. ????????

The fact a 17yo girl had access to his laptop for long enough to find and email the photo to herself to upload to the net also raises some questions, if St Nick's version of events is true.

Geez when i was young i always wanted to be like Bill Gates lol :p (to be fair i never really followed the football)

The AFL has pledged to offer ongoing counselling services to a teenage girl at the centre of the nude photo scandal that has rocked the St Kilda football club this week.

Chief executive Andrew Demetriou told radio 3AW today that the AFL had met with the girl at least 20 times since April, when she says she became pregnant to a St Kilda player, a pregnancy she claims she later lost.

He said the 17-year-old, who is threatening to publish more incriminating photographs of footballers in coming days, was a "very young girl who has obviously got some issues" and needed professional help.

I laughed when i read this before, how about Andrew Demetriou gets his whole AFL help on how to not have sex with young girls.

The AFL culture is rotten to the core. They manipulate the media reporting of scandals in this country. When an NRL player farts it's "Another NRL Scandal", when AFL players impregnate a schoolgirl it's all her fault. Disgusting game with an even worse culture.

haha someone obviously doesnt like the game.

AFL has a fantastic media contingent and a great PR team and a long term vision that very few organisations have these days, plus the money to back it all up. Other Aussie sports just dont have the funds or organisation to get this in place

The AFL have a much cleaner record than the NRL. The teams including the management have done a lot more than fart and I reckon some of them should be in jail.

I know people who run it and you would be surprised to what levels the players are chaperoned and how many courses they go to. I even know of players dropped from clubs becxause of poor social attitudes, even though they were good players.

Unfortunately, their is still the present culture where sex is treated as something to get and love is not part of it and girls get hurt. It happens in the general public and so it happens among the sporting elite.

I just feel sad that the boy involved treated the relationship too lightly and has stuffed up and the girl is obviously badly hurt.

Welcome to real life.

The AFL pays News Ltd (or used to) for favorable coverage. The ABC's various sports chat shows and radio presenters are heavily AFL-biased. The AFL even has the Victorian Police onside, the cops having to run any announcement by the AFL for approval (leaving aside speculation about the tens of botched investigations by Vic Police into player misbehavior). All of this adds up to create the impression that AFL is the clean skin code.

Hi guys,
I read about this in todays paper.
Dont know much about the situation, but I do get a feeling that this young women is really tak'n the pi$$.

Firstly, how many women throw themselves at these 'high profile' sportsmen, pos. for all the wrong reasons?

Also, I think It's well documented that 'some' men can & do behave like pigs in their treatment of women.

But It boils down to the fact that If she feels she has suffered some great injustice, [sexual assault/misconduct] then she needs to build a case.

For instance, If she was really pregnant, & she knew who the father was.
The gravity of the situation wouldn't have been lost on her or her family & representatives.

If she miscarried whilst all the above was unfolding, then I think it 'flimsy' to say the least, that someone didn't sieze on the oppertunity to perform a dna test?

Seeing as the stakes are high....Think about it..If a dna sample was possible, then any guilty parties would be running for cover!!

That said, I think, from what I've read, she's a bit of a dill in the way she's go'n about things, as I don't think her solicitor would be overly enthusiastic with exposing random pic's & storys to the media!

Unless of course, that was her sole intent, to have a vurtual repeat of the Lara Bingle $250k for a womens day column?..which is fine, so long as you're not hurting anybody.

Vicki:)

I'm not surprised that St Kilda players are taking photos of each other naked.

Nor am I surprised that a young man in his prime would want to have sex with a 17 year old. My God!

I'm equally non plussed that a 17 year old would want to do it with an AFL footballer. Oh golly me!!

And, Saint Nick, you really are a dick.

I think the media is forgetting this girl is only 17 and has lost a baby, which i cant even begin to explain how trumatic that would be at her age or any age for that matter.

Because she's still just a girl she reacts differently about things like this than a grown up would.

The moral of the story is these guys should not have anything to do with a 17 year old girl especially not anything sexual.

I have hardly followed this , but everything that I have seen would give 1000 to 1 this young lady has mental health issues.
