Gee when is the milky-bar kid ( Rudd ) going to send the message the slow down these BS refugees .
Boat after boat of self funded manipulating despots crossing border after border to infect Australia with more grubs , well skilled on welfare dependence always .
Australia seems to be the Paradise for Parasites for these fake refugees :mad:

Guess genuine Refugees that go through the correct procedures who don't have the $$ just go back in the line then .
 
The mystery is why the Government uses our Border Protection Service to expedite the safe passage of illegal immigrants to Christmas Island, and how is it they all turn out to be desirable immigrants?

We regularly deport people of all nationalities back to their home countries for over-staying their visas, and yet if they come here without a visa via Christmas Island we welcome them with open arms,and at great expense.:dunno:

i know on the north american continent thats the case, but given that the indian tribes were warriors, they did put up a good fight, but in the end the traditional owners were dispossessed, but in australia there was genocide of the aboriginal owners, and survivors were moved out..

cant think of anywhere else where the traditional owners were killed and the survivors dispossessed off the land..


nyden.. if your family is murdered i guess you expect everyone to laugh and could say its their fault for not being advanced. so lets not hope for that outcome hey..

To be frank, I don't really think this sort of bigoted drivel contributes much to the ASF forums at all.

If you went outside our borders Mr Xenophobe you might realise there is a whole world of people out there, many not as well off or lucky as ourselves. So instead of asking your pointless ignorant question why not ask when are Australians like yourself going to stop acting like selfish little children & open your heart to the possibility that we can help these poor people @ very little cost to ourselves.:topic

Perhaps he doesn't want to, and why should he be forced to? The cost is not small, either.
 
All we have to do is get ready for lack of services, food and water. With masses of people comes misery, lack of everything not to mention rife corruption.

On the positive note: If we allow conditions in Australia to drop to their standard, people smugglers might start to smuggle people out.

And that will solve the problem, who was here first, who has more rights to say what.

How do you advance when the nation you inhabit contains a poor climate for agriculture, poor native grasses suitable for cropping and no domesticable mammals of a suitable size?

How do you move away from a hunter gatherer lifestyle when you cannot remain stationary? How do you advance if you cannot form populations centres?

How do you fight guns and swords with sticks and stones?

Read Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond it will put some things into perspective for you.
 
1. I've been to christmas island - for a reason unrelated to this topic- and happened to be there when a heap of illegals arrived. this was before the new centre was opened: it was under construction. I had a look at the old centre and would like to dispell some myths about how we treat illegal arrivals.

the old centre was situated next to the island rec centre- illegals had access to this sporting facility on a regular basis, the centre was pretty empty at the time, had vege gardens (what little vege's you can grow on CI), full time carers, access to the hospital - the island had 2 doctors then. To be honest it was a pretty sweet deal compared to persecution and was at least on par with how some of the chinese malay and phosphate workers lived, and they paid for their accommodation. The provision for these people also stretches the islands services. food, including veges comes in by container ship and are in very average condition for the general populace let alone extra illegals.

My point here is that we don't treat ilegals at all bad, contrary to what many folk believe. as a side note, once the centre closed and illegals were left to live in the community temporarily the crime rate - theft and assault increased significantly.

2. not everyone is equal, or can be equal. Sad fact of life, get used to it. there never has been a unified homo sapiens species and there never will be.

3. The settlement of Australia by europeans and the arrival of illegals share so few similarities that the comaprison is of no use when discussing illegal arrivals in the modern context

4. then the social question: do we really have any "duty" at all to provide refuge for illegal immigrants simply because they want to come to australia.

the UN definition of a refugee is someoene who leaves a country to seek refuge at the closest port of refuge. this pretty much means PNG in relation to australia. If you leave mainland asia for australia, you are by definition, not a refugee, you are an illegal immigrant as you must first pass through indonesian waters.

5. discussions of this nature are not racist. just because you dont't want to share what you have with someone of a different race, who happens to have less than you, does not make you racist. If you choose a governement that then persecutes you, well thats just too bad. sorry.

History is full of it. Genocide has occurred throughout history, and honestly, any crimes committed against the Aboriginal people pale in comparison to many, many historical examples. The Aboriginals were mainly devastated by disease, as is often the case when one culture is exposed to another.

i asked for any other examples of colonialism with genocide and dispossession mr j, your answer shows you have no knowledge of any other examples..

your rewrite on the post colonialist australian aboriginal genocide is laughable.

can you post up those man many historic examples please which makes the dispossession and genocide in australia "pale in comparison" ??
 
You didn't ask for examples at all. If you can't think of any, you obviously haven't picked up a history book.

Well the Native American Indian suffered huge losses in comparison. Modern population estimates for the Indians at the time of contact was around 18-20million. 95% of these people were killed by epidemics ahead of the advance of the conquerors which is one of the reasons that the initial population estimates were only around 1 million. The remaining people largely subjugated by force.

The majority of the Central and Southern American peoples were wiped out by disease. As was the case for the Australian Aboriginals. Of the peoples I have mentioned the Aboriginals were by far the least populous.

You can argue that disease is not genocide, but what is the difference between killing people with weapons or introduced disease? The end result is the same.

Have a look at what happened to the Selk'nam & Aonikenk aboriginals of Patagonia , lucky the English arrived here Hey :p:
 
It's good that we are bringing in those who are less fortunate, and give them a bit of a helping hand at a new life, however, that doesn't mean we should allow smuggling to flourish, and make money at the expense of the poor souls who are just trying to stay alive. I would say that it would be best if we can have a much tougher stance on illegal immigrants, but at the same time, help speed up the processings for those who are in the proper system.
