Heard an interesting clip on the news this morn, which got me fired up

Pope What-ever-his-name-is is encouraging the G8 leaders to financiallly support developing nations and help the underpriviledged through these hard economic times
This coming from the public face of THE RICHEST ORGANISATION IN THE WORLD who hoard unknown billions (trillions?) of dollars in priceless art and uncountable amounts of money
Why dont you do something about it you greedy pigs? You make me sick.....

I am not anti the Christian faith, but i am anti the church establishment
The days i am forced to go to church, out of respect when my family has services for deceased relatives, i refuse to give to the plate which goes to the Vatican, but do give to the plate that funds the local church

Asking the Pope to shut hell up is a bit like asking Kevin Rudd to stop licking his earwax.

Watch a show about an FBI agent who worked for the Russians the agents wife found out what he was up to and decide they had see their Priest who decide they should give the same amount of money he has already spent to a charity ,, the agent turned to the Russians because her was going broke so all the priest did was increase his debt load... instead of the Priest telling the FBI about this bloke ..he was allowed to go on and tell the KGB every thing including which KGB officers were double agents who were then tracked down given a fair trail and shot.. If we didn't have religion on the front page the World would be a much better place.

A classic "do as I say not as I do" situation with the Pope there.

The closed mind and outright elitism of this organisation ensures I won't become involved with it.

Our Kevvy is going to meet him on this trip. I guarantee one thing...he won't be able to shut Kevvy up, especially if he hears his confession. That could go on all day.

The present Pope and the two before him are/were very much out of touch with reality.
How could they be otherwise, considering the closeted and completely abnormal lives they lead, both before and after becoming Pope.

Why Popes get adored and respected by so many people is beyond me.

Maybe it's an insecurity thing - people needing someone to look up to and believe in to give themselves a sense of security.
Why can't they believe in themselves instead!

If it wasn't religion, it would be something else.

The same could be said of many leaders. As for your insecurity suggestion, I think it's clear that most humans are followers, even if it is only half-hearted. We seem to be less willing to change it than go along with it. Only occasionally do we actually do anything about, and even then it has only been following someone else that had their own agenda. The fact is many people are sheep, and almost everyone can be influenced to a certain degree. Even those who are mostly or completely free-minded often won't try to change the system if they find themselves in an acceptable position.

I hear Kevin is going to lobby him about making someone or other a saint.

I'm a bit worried when our PM buys into all that mumbo jumbo. What next claims about witchcraft and aliens controlling Malcolm Turnbull?

So its ok to slang off the head of a christian church but when it comes to muslim or other religions it is dealt with severely. What a joke.

Actually, this is not true at ASF. We allow threads critical of any religious leader's comments.

For example, this thread is highly critical of Sheikh Feiz Mohammed's comments: https://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5642

We will also allow threads critical of comments attributable to atheists, deists and agnostics.

I dont see any personal attacks on, or character assassination of, the popeosaurus here mate......
My point is his lips are flapping, but as usual the hands are idle. Damn easy to point fingers at others ain't it Benedict?

There is a great deal in what you say, but works of art etc., are worth a debate. A painting that was given to me as a present sometime ago is still probably worth very little. However, if I was told it's now worth $10 million then I'm still not selling. That must be the case with items in the Vatican.

On sales of many paintings and other works of art the value has much to do with very little being available. So if they sold loads to give away then it would plummet in price

There are more mysterious goings on at the Vatican Bank and the alleged murder of a Pope John Paul 1st on Sept 28th 1978. A visitor was said to have been poisoned - Prelate Nikodim 2nd - with a cup of green tea meant for the Pope and his body was embalmed shortly afterwards without tests. The Pope's body was also embalmed immediately after his death without tests.
It should be pointed out that the Pope was known to have very swollen feet , despite his young age, for a Pope that is. Inspite of this he was known to be, or so some say, to be ready to clear up the financially goings on. The reasons why some wanted him dead, so some say.

Unfortunately foreign Popes were elected subsequently and they were not known, unlike the Italian Popes, to have a handle on the goings on.

Instead of Rudd lobbying the Pope to make somebody a saint, he should lobby the Pope to buy shares in Ansell.
