no use filling the place up with people only to fill the dole q's and fuel housing shortages eh ? ;)

A GROWING jobs shortage and rising unemployment figures in Australia have forced the Rudd Government to start closing the gate on foreign workers.

Jobs vacancies for skilled workers have plunged 50 per cent in Queensland as demand for professionals and tradespeople dries up and mining giants slash staff.
Nearly 550 Queensland miners were axed on Tuesday and up to $30 billion in planned mining developments are in doubt because of the sudden downturn in world demand for the state's coal.

In response, the Federal Government has moved to tighten immigration laws to protect Australian jobs.

Re: Immigration set to be slashed !

I should say: Immigration has it's place, to keep wage inflation from running a muck, but when it comes to jobs for Aussies, immigration needs to be curbed.

agree ,

not to mention the percentage of actual anglo-Australians is getting lesser and lesser

the colour of australia is changing

Like it or not mate, Australia is a part of Asia, not Europe. :)

Re: Immigration set to be slashed !

I always thought terra Australis incognita was its own little island/continent ?

Perhaps on an official geographical stance, but for all intents and purposes we're a part of Asia; something even Rudd is always trying to hint at.

Australia's immigration policy has long been dysfunctional. We don't need any more Indian taxi drivers or petrol station attendants.

Maybe these "hints" that you say Rudd drops are from a trade point of view ?

If we arnt our own identity it would seem we are part of Oceania ...

nope and on wikI dont see Aussie falling under Asia - great portion of Asia is in the northern hemishphere to boot ...

So as cute and catchy as it may seem, we simply arnt asia ... but I have no prolem with people believing what they want to believe !

cheers :D

How long are you suggesting XOA?

I always thought it was extremely successfully compared with many places I've been.

Food for thought:

Debunking the Concept of 'Race'

And for a more interesting, left field concept:

To get a grasp of how ridiculous it is, think about blood type. I am blood type A. This means I can receive red blood cells from anyone with A or O type blood. It doesn't matter if someone's skin is darker than night; I can take it and my body will not react aggressively.

Yet, I can't receive blood from a more "Aryan" person like myself if their blood is type B. And I'm supposed to be more "like" all white people? They're supposed to be my "kind?"

Imagine a person who has ancestry from Europe, from Asia and from Africa. Where does he/she fit on the census? Of what race is he/she a member?

from the very end of the article here - http://media.www.themichiganjournal.../There.Is.No.Such.Thing.As.race-1057865.shtml

Mrs and I have studied a bit about blood antigens. She who must be obeyed is O- whereas I am A+, indicating contrasting evolutionary origins. Yet we are both of "English decent" - both "Caucasian" in the most typical sense.

My blood would kill her... fortunately, other bodily fluids don't. :D

The immigration program is to be replaced by making it easier for boat people to come here. "Illegal immigrants" are now referred to as "unauthorised arrivals." The old term was pejorative and damaged their egos. They can now come here confident that we will rapidly process them, ahead of those who want to be "authorised arrivals."

Family groups will get preferential treatment.

Ever since the mid 1990s, when we turned universities into PR factories and imported Indian IT professionals to perform menial labour.

Hehe, I met my girlfriend at a PR factory. One enormous foul up really.
