I have a deal with the youngest, the one threatening to get up the earliest:) - nothing happens until 7 am.

They went to bed at 2100hrs... got us up at 0420hrs

I went to bed at 0200hrs and was up just over 2 hrs later... roll on bedtime tonite.

PS neighbours were woken up at 0530 hrs with my 10yr old doing donuts on thier front lawn with his new nitro fueled 4wd drive off road buggy..an they dont even have kids....ha ha ha ha ha ha

I woke up at 11:11 which seemed a bit odd at the time.

Then I was in a sort of panic trying to work out if it was a weekday or weekend and whether or not I had missed the alarm, all while still half asleap. After about 2 minutes a lightbulb moment occurred - it's Christmas Day!

Then walked to the bathroom, trod on a scorpion and got stung. Then spent far too long standing in the shower contemplating my sore foot.

Now I've just finished a bit of penguin modification. No more burnt fingers taking out the batteries that have just been nuked by this friendly looking monster. Nope. Now it's mains powered and can flap its wings, spin around and sing happily all evening without me having to stand there armed with batteries, oven gloves and a screwdriver. :D

The turkey will be cooked in about an hour. That gives me a bit of time to have a play with my new model radio controlled wasp. It flies (hopefully) but no stings.

:)

Jeez you allright? How did a scorpion get in your house and did you get rid of it?
I'm fine but thanks for asking. :)

Nasty looking red spot on the bottom of my foot has almost gone now. It hurt for a while though.

Not sure about elsewhere, but scorpions are pretty common in suburban Hobart. They'll get inside through the smallest gaps around pipes, at the bottom of walls etc. Gaps that humans don't notice but these little creatures sure find them.

I probably find about one per month on average. Usually in the garden near the house or inside. This is the first time I've been stung though and I'd like it to be the last.

They don't seem to go out of their way to sting, but obviously this one didn't like being squashed under my foot. It was still alive afterwards too (not alive now...).
