these are the horses I pulled in the sweeps, unfortunately we can't access TAB at work.
Perhaps a screen dump of all the horses? that way I can look like i'm in the know and help my work mates out.

I might be laughed off the forum for asking this question, but do the jockeys actually hit the horses with their whips?

If they do, then for me that's the only sour note in an otherwise beautiful spectacle of mighty horses. I loved every one of them.

My mate at work bought a "mystery trifecta" - paid $1377 - plus some money on Efficient on the nose, plus he won the office sweep. Rang his wife - she excitedly told him she'd won 1st 2nd and 3rd in her office sweep lol. So he said - "that's nice dear, and I won a bit in the sweep as well"
- I imagine he'll pick some appropriate time to tell her he won over $1500 lol.

lol - I like the story that the PM was busy quipping that Rudd should have done a "me too" and gone with Mahler - "at least he'd still be in the race" - lol - only for Rudd to change to Efficient (brave call, more than 20 to 1) - and to be rewarded with a win.

It's a great day for grey power, and a great day for Rudd's wallet
cruising 60 k per hour, as we wound up for the gallop
while the PM made derisions that "me too" is all you've got
and Rudd left him there efficiently, with five interest hikes on the trot

Actually picked up the quinella.

First time i have ever cam e out on top on a horse race

My wife works in a post office with 2 other ladies. None of them have any idea about horses and didn't know any of the horses names in the Cup.

For some uncanny reason, she decided, she must have dreamed it, that it was the year of the no. 6 (Efficient). She put 3 bets of $1 on it for the win and 3 bets of $1 on no. 12 (ie. because it was twice times 6, Purple Moon) for the place.

She comes back from the TAB and one of the other ladies said that she should have put the two of them together, ie. 6 and 12, in a quinella.

So back she goes to the TAB and takes them in a quinella, although never having bet on a quinella before, 3 bets of $3 each.

Result: for an outlay of $15, they get a return of $713.10.

Mug punters? Maybe, but much better returns than the share market, a point I had to concede.
