The Secret?

Do you mean you're overseas for 2 - 3years or you're getting a house in 2-3 years... that's awesome
Yes, here for 2-3 years, and then not sure. After that, I might be helping to set up a travel business in Central America. I ´m looking for an apartment to rent at the moment, but may even buy. You can get a pretty decent pad here for $200K. But, it is Lima!

Back to The Secret, are those things you discussed above going to help you trade? Being overly optomistic/confident could result in you holding on to losing invesments, or buying things that you believe in, but are in fact, woofers. Taking a completely objective, rational, realistic approach to investment generally seems to be recommended, particularly by some of the great investors. eg, 'leave emotion at the door, and if you want a friend, get a dog.' GG circa 1987. Hmmm, perhaps using a fictional movie character is not adding to the strength of my argument. ;) :)

First off... :D Congratulations!!! Not only do you have plans but you are actually doing them. That's living... I got friends that are doing the same thing but in Portugal and in the shipping industry and trust me they aren't coming back to Melbourne... :) good on them

Now

Being more Optimistic gets you further...

It's the difference between somebody who happily invests money and somebody who is too scared to invest money because of risk. One is more optimistic than the other and has a better chance of succeeding because he/she is participating where as the other has already lost...

Taking a completely objective, rational, realistic approach to investment!

Hopefully that by making mistakes you would eventually ask yourself the right questions that would get you to the answer of taking a completely objective, rational and realistic approach to investment. Before I started making my gains in the market I lost about 40% of my initial capital making mistakes... Mistakes which I turned into lessons by asking How (positive) questions instead of Why (negative) questions... Example of a why question is "Why do I suck?" clearly that's a negative however If I asked "How can I improve for next time?" is much more positive...

Sorry Kennas, I don't mean to get all self Help on ya but the clip on The Secret by the Chasers lacks a lot of information but I bet leans towards this kind of thing... However theirs is a little fruity with the whole visualize a car space thing at the door and it will be there... The guy probably parked in a disabled spot with out even realizing. I winder if visualized a parking fine ?

However there is one book that is recommended by all successful people and it's called "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoloen Hill... I have never read it though... It's suppose to be awesome...

Adios Muchacho ;)

I have not read The Secret, but have heard much about it. I gather that it mostly involves the concept of visualising a want that you want fulfilled, truly believe it is going to happen, and hey presto! ...it does.

I can see this method of thinking working in winning people over (sales situations and arguments). The optimism and confidence and outright belief in an idea is a powerful thing. And like Insider points out, a winner for da Ladeez..

Also, like Insider points out, this sort of thinking works with the subconscious mind to plan, deconstruct, and work out problems/challenges. If you've got a design problem to figure out, sleeping on it will often get the issue sorted.

Having a goal or clearly visualised dream gives you a clear path to work towards - it gives you optimism, gives you a reason to save or do the hard yards.

From what I hear, the Secret also includes some mumbo jumbo on a vibrational universe and this might be the thing that is related to finding that perfect car space. ...not too sure about this.

As for applying these ideas to stock choices or surviving a terminal illness..... I'd be worried about people getting suckered into this :( This sort of stuff can only work in situations you can control - and yes we all can control our ability to woo a partner, sell an idea, or get that Maserati - but unless there is some undiscovered self-righting mechanism in the human body, we can't survive a terminal illness and unless the belief has got you religiously reading the AFR and picking up insider information, I don't see it helping your stock choices :banghead:

the secret is to find gullible / directionless / stupid / greedy people and sell them a story / direction / clue / too-good-to-be-true-deal. it always has been. its the same principle that religion has been employing since the dawn of time.

I do like your comment ....Reep the dopes! They always provide :D

Thanks for sharing the Info Kennas, Now I know who I will be PMing if I am in Lima Ha ha ha ha!

The Law of Attraction is a universal law.

A lot of people don't seem to realise that what you focus on is what you attract. With The Secret and other such information becoming more widespread there are more people becoming aware.

If you focus on war and hunger and terror .... that is what you will get.

Focusing on peace, abundance etc ... then you get that too.

For those interested, Esther Hicks who channels Abraham (Esther appears in the Secret), has a number of books etc on this topic which I think are very good.

So peace, happiness, health and abundance to all.

Hi moneymajix....Focus (concentration)....I don`t think this law of attraction is universal.I see it as a thought created (in this subject) to keep people striving to get what they want.Focusing on something doesn`t bring it to someone.Action is required to start the ball rolling,so to speak.
So....nice thoughts, but with millions (or even one)persons determining our success or failure then it goes beyond what an individual wants or focuses on.

Every day somene else is determining our future!

Someone from the Personal Growth Movement said that to get what we want involves price paying.I meant to ask them ...who determines the price?

Though this line I remember well...Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "With our thoughts, we make the world".

I used to believe in God, I am a baptized Catholic. Faith in opinion has caused more pain and suffering then good. Look at the state of the world.

Ever since I found trading My new god is the markets, supply and demand. Fear and greed.

:):):):)

I know the secret!

The secret to is to include the word "secret" in your marketing.

What better way than to make it the actual title? ;)

Hi WYS

Sometimes no or little action is needed imo.

Just the thought and not having attachment can be powerful.

An example, last year I wanted to get free tickets to a show and have 2 friends join me. It had the thought and forgot about it.

A while later a relative gave me 3 tickets for a show as they had double booked themselves and could not attend. So, 2 friends and I went to see a quite expensive show for FREE.

Another time, I wanted to see different event and decided I did not want to pay for it. Later, I noticed a competition in a magazine for tickets to this particular event. I entered and won 4 tickets. Effort required there was posting off the winning entry.

It was quite funny re the above win. A bunch of the free magazines were delivered to the block of units where I was living at the time. I never noticed the mags being delivered before or after that time (where the competition mentioned was promoted).

I could give other examples as many others could, I am sure.

Effort sometimes is required but in some instances very little.

I recently began 6 month strategy to acquire a nice Maserati that parks across the road from me. I've dedicated 10 minutes each and every day to stare at it, picture owning it and thinking happy thoughts. On the morning of the 181st day, I intend to walk in and grab the keys.

After having read the secret, I'm certain the universe will reward my hard work and good planning and I'll have a nice new car.

Stay tuned.

How'd you go doctorj? Got that Maserati yet? :)

I read this book as a favour for a friend who asked me what I though about it. I told my friend it was rubbish. Honestly, are you going to lose weight by just thinking it? And money will start suddenly appearing in my mail box? I'm all for the power of positive thinking, but you've got to do things for yourself too. This is just :nuts::nuts:

I don't know... Every morning when I wake up I lie in bed for a while just "envisioning" myself as a young, vibrant, fit, tall, slim and healthy individual. I hold this picture firmly in my head.

Then I get up, work out the creaks and twinges, shuffle into bathroom where if I look into the mirror from a certain angle, squint with one eye shut, suck in my gut, stand on tiptoes and cross fingers I can almost believe I've managed to turn back time.

I haven't read 'The Secret', nor will I, but I do believe in something along the lines of The Law of Attraction or more in general just Positive Thinking.

My experiences are much the same as moneymajix's. I'll think about something that I'm in need of, or something that I'm searching for, and just keep the thought in the back of my mind subconsciously. I'm wouldn't know the % of times that its happens but more often then not what I've previously thought about turn's up. Could be months down the track, but it does.

:)
