I've always thought he did a good job with covid, he as a person was never my cup of tea, but IMO probably the right personality for a crisis like Covid and shutting down the Country.

Obstinate, arrogant, thick skinned, quick thinking, excellent memory and not phased by the media, without those unattractive traits, he would have been torn to shreds by the press.
With him being calm and having the answers, when questioned on every aspect of the covid pandemic, it instilled calm in the general public, throughout the incident IMO.

He was never popular with the media, also Australians aren't overly religious, so being strongly opinionated and religious is never going to sit well with the Australian public.
As I've said before I try to cancel all the white noise and just judge on the job at hand, not what the media or rusted on disciples think or say.

So IMO he wont be missed, but neither was Turnbull, Abbott, Gillard and Rudd, it has been a long time since Australia has had a statesman. :2twocents

As I said at the time, he isn't the nicest person and definitely not someone I would befriend, but neither was Winston Churchill after the war he was tossed out also.
Horses for courses IMO, forget the personal stuff, way too many people today are emotionally needy.
As for being his biggest fan, I wouldn't say that, I voted for Albo as I said before the election and I'm not, never have been and never will be a member of a political party.
As soon as you have joined a party, you have admitted your lack of ability to think objectively.;)

Well that's never going to work in today's world, Hawke got away with it, but times have moved on since the 80's.
People are a lot more precious and entitled these days, as can be seen by the early calling back of the troops to Canberra, the optics have never been more important Tones never got that.;)
These day's it doesn't even work in the workshop, tell some to get off their ar$e and it is a one way ticket out of your job.
Now it is coaxing, pleading and hopefully the worker gives in with your constant whining. :roflmao:

Well if that was true, we would still be buying the French subs, there would be no AUKUS, no Kurri Kurri, while going through an economic shutdown, you need to be a bit more balanced in your reasoning.

Chinese regulators have said the risks of global shockwaves from Evergrande's failure can be contained. The court documents seen Monday showed Evergrande owes about $25.4 billion to foreign creditors. Its total assets of about $240 billion are dwarfed by its total liabilities.

Emergency services vehicles rush to the burning Crocus City Hall in suburban Moscow which was set ablaze after gunmen opened fire at a rock concert in the Russian capital, according to Russian news agencies. At least 40 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the attack, according to Russia's Federal Security Service.
 
The terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow has been claimed by ISIS. Earlier on the Russians started to accuse Ukraine of the attack. This was denied by the US and Ukraine.

Early in March US intelligence said they have heard chatter on such an attack,. They said they had passed on the intelligence to the Russians and had issued warnings through the US Embassy for people to avoid public gatherings.

There is another more detailed analysis of the ISIS terrorist attack in Russia. I wonder how many Russians would be aware that there was serious concern from Western intelligence about the likelihood of an attack and that Putin had basically trashed the advice ?

“We did warn the Russians appropriately,” said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, without providing any additional details. (I guess that means they couched it in intelligence terms on a "professional to professional" basis )

... Russian leader Vladimir Putin had called the March warnings from western embassies a “provocation”.

“All this resembles outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilise our society,” he said earlier this month.

Well, I guess Putrid has to say this. He couldn't inform the peasants of his nation that they may be under attack and was warned of it, being a distinct possibility.
