We actually really need a thread debating if Lady Gaga is a man.
That would be engaging and thought provoking.

let's try keep this thread on topic... I'm actually interested in seeing the results of the poll.

cheers,

Apparently Ke$ha wears her placenta as a necklace. Thats interesting too.

Very unprofessional from a mod, Timmy.

Shapelle Corby has created a lot discussion on this forum, so please do keep your sarcastic remarks to yourself on this.

cheers,

Geez Stan ... its a bit of a fun thread dude ... my idiocy won't preclude people from voting.

Stan, was that you who voted 5 years worth of schaplle corby discussion was interesting and thought provoking?

be honest

People spend a certain amount of time procrastinating or on 'unproductive' activities. If they're not working hard or playing the stock market they're going to be watching television or drinking beer or playing the pokies, reading about celebrity gossip, playing Farmville, discussing sports or debating Schapelle Corby's guilt or innocence. It's not like people have been dragged away from important duties, they have just put their time and thoughts in Schapelle rather than some lame Facebook quiz or playing solitaire.

If anything, Australia should adopt harsher penalties including death sentence for drug related offences.

This: you cannot sell, cannot buy, cannot produce, but can have small quantity for personal use carp is plain silly.

After all they are our neighbours and similar laws would reduce surprise element when caught, like we know who.

I couldn't disagree with you more. The laws in Bali are a reflection of their society which is unlike ours. Just because they are our neighbours it does not mean that we should adopt their laws or vice versa. We need to have our own system of dealing with drug related offences rather than adopting another countries (even if we HAD to adopt another countries drug enforcement laws then I would see us copying either the US or British models). In relation to the death penalty, first of all we don't even use that mode of punishment in Australia anymore so it would be very inconsistent to employ it to deal with drug related offences. Secondly, our laws and the respective punishments which go with them are meant as a 'scaled deterence' to crime (I know you will argue that the death penalty is one which it is) i.e harsher punishments for more haneous crimes. If you were to have the death penalty for drug possession/distribution and jail terms for murder etc what do you think a dealer will do if he/she knows they will get the death penalty if caught and committing other 'more serious' crimes will have no effect on the punishment. The death penalty in my view is rather barbaric no matter how it is administered and im glad that Australia has moved on from such things, hopefully never to return.
