Wrap me up in cotton wool, I'm leaving the house!

To me it is bit silly too.

They don’t seem to realise that people cause accidents or are caught with alcohol level 3, 5, 6 times the legal limit.

Stop them first, then worry about 0.05 to 0.02 move.

Honestly I would fix the problem with drunk drivers before even changing from 0.08 for everybody !
Laws seem to affect everybody except for those that should be affected by them.

We are turning into the Nanny Country!!

Soon booze will be banned completely because we will lack the maturity to decide if we want it or not.

Dont know about you but the amount of times I'm driving and see a car in front wobbling over the road is---often.
I call the cops I have them on speed dial.
They could kill my Son or Daughter or yours.
Just have it unacceptable to everyone and call them in.

Same with hoons.

Frankly the worst are Texting and Phone calls.
One was killed last week answering a phone-- truck head on.
I wont answer the phone if driving--cant text.
I'll call the cops after I pull over!!

Stuff it make it un acceptable for EVERYONE.
Now thats not soift its PROACTIVE.

Tech im assuming you pull over to make that phone call:D

Agree with your sentiments tho only last week I saw a asian lady (not suggesting it was because she was asian or a lady!) reading a book while on her phone and driving. I had to look twice as I couldnt believe it!

I'm surprised nobody sees it for what it really is:
An additional tax on motorists! Only a bunch of Pollies and their Eggspurt Consultants could come up with a hare-brained idea like that.

RBT checks will go up, and the fines for the responsible guy who's had one Carlton mid with his lunch or dinner will pay for the increased supervision.

The hoons and habitual drunks will keep thumbing their noses at any rules and regulations - just like they do now. When they approach an RBT bus, they'll high-tail it into the bushes or do a U-turn and outrace the Law. The cops will chase them and abandon the pursuit as soon as it gets "too dangerous". And if some crims end in a ditch or wrap themselves around a tree, it's the cops' fault anyway ... :banghead:

I would like to see the statistics behind accidents caused by drivers with BAC between .02 and .05. And actual accidents caused, not alcohol related crashes. They are two very different things after all.

If the government were to release these figures then they probably wouldn't be as justified in setting up RBT's for the pure purpose of raising revenue.

In no way am I condoning drink driving but the people that cause accidents are very unlikely to be in the range of .02 to .05. It is the drivers that drink with reckless abandon and then feel they can drive a vehicle that we really need to worry about.

He ran out of Paint---off to Bunnings.
