With the current market situation there seems to little discussion time spent with actual stocks and more posts aimed allocating blame. With some discussions one sided and with firm convictions held by most the posts can be hard to interpret. Some are slightly abusive, some are thought provoking, some are thoughtless, some are entertaining. Some of mine are labelled stupid. Some are just stirring. Some are all of the above.

Therefore I suggest nominations for an award for "stirrer or the year", The Wooden spoon award. (Not an award for coming last)

Re: Wooden spoon award.

Hmm, a couple of people instantly spring to mind, but I'm not sure that I want to further the current level of exchanges which are less than constructive in any sense.

What I really dislike is the increasing tendency to reply to posts with which one doesn't agree with scorn and derision. Why not just accept that someone else has a different view, offer a counter view, and remain civil.

Personal insults detract more from the reputation of the person issuing those insults than that of the person to whom they are directed imo.

I will gladly accept the stirrer award, if offered.

But Julia, perhaps the worst stirrers are those who make strong value judgements on a legitimate market activity without a shred of intellectual integrity or reasoning. In so doing, there is an intrinsic and implicit casting of aspersions on those participating. These people even refuse to answer legitimate questions.

If by rising to this effrontery, the stirree is considered the stirrer, so be it.

I'd just like to thank mom and dad, uncle sam, aunt edna, the horse that ruined by back and caused me to become involved in something more sedentary. I'd like to thank The Fed for making gold such a brilliantly tradable commodity.

I'd especially like to thank investors who didn't do their due diligence, believed that things were 'different this time' and bought my shorts from me. We won't be doing business for a while, as I'll have to ply my trade exclusively in a fairer casino, but look forward to doing business at some point in the future.

Rotflmao, with that post you deserve the award, beautiful stir.

Hear hear!

Apologies to Julia in advance... (mentioning the O word) :(

As Barack would say "We can disagree without being disagreeable."

I could be very very wrong.... but either Whiskers is the biggest stirrer or let's just say I'm very very wrong. :D

I've been pretending to understand EWave stuff, still don't.

Havent heard from him for a while but redback would surely be up there for biggest stirrer. Vitriolic, spiteful posts, making claims of misdeeds and refusing to elaborate or collaberate them with any evidence whatsoever

(before anyone gets upset it's a joke - Sorry Whiskers couldn't resist)
