Why do we hate them?

Rafa said:
another topic another thread..... but we're back on the Hijab!!!

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rafa

I'm pretty much prostrate with laughter at your post! It really is becoming funny. My apologies if I'm guilty of perpetuating the topic. I've become sort of fascinated in a horrible way about exactly why Visual is so passionate on the subject.

Visual, you're getting close to explaining it - I think - or perhaps not.
Just when I thought it was because it represented Islamic extremism, then I think you're more upset because it will lead to all of us women being regarded as impure (I gave up on that long ago) because we wear skimpy clothes in the summer.

Still puzzled, but not wanting to drive the forum crazy.......?

Julia

Julia,
sorry, I do tend to be pretty obsessive, perhaps it`s because you can`t walk down the street anymore certainly where I live without bumping into a baby in hijab or being confronted by a burqa wearing woman at the shops or women drinving with just their eyes showing.Or and this actually happened being stopped from going to a public toilet because a devout muslim was using it , for God sake there`s more than one toilet in there,I informed the very defensive husband who dared to even look at me seeing that women are so revered in his culture .Obviously being an infidel I didn`t deserve the same respect as if I was covered to my eyeballs in ugly black. You see it`s those lies that drive me crazy.would`nt it be just simpler for these people to just come out and admit ,yes we hate women, full stop.Like they admit to wanting to bomb us back to the stone age,

And then today while shopping I came across that book,Girls like her. What can I say,

It doesn't reperesnt extremism. I have worked in Arab countries and all the women wear it whether moderate or not, especially if they are from wealthy families. Some of them are pretty slack muslims. You would be amazed.

Marriage works by the women having a party and men having a seperate party. Then the groom leaves the mens party and enters the womens party.
Often the marriage is arranged so that is when they meet each other.
Makes the Aussie BBQ where all the men and women split into different groups look normal.

They have family days when the restrictions reduce but if you see them in a shopping centre the man walks in front, the woman walks 6 paces behind and the kids follow her, all in a line.

They are really different to us.

Julia,
at the risk of confusing you further,
this from an interview re-Girls like you,Paul Sheehan,

Defence lawyers continue to monster rape victims in court because, at least some of the time, such tactics work. And they work because plenty of Australians still believe that a woman who is drunk, or wearing alluring clothes, or who goes to a man's home or hotel room, is not entirely to be trusted if she later claims to have been raped.

Many Muslims do indeed have repellent ideas about rape but so do significant numbers of non-Muslim Australians. That Australia deals with such sexual violence infinitely better than does Pakistan is no excuse for failing to address our own shortcomings.

By allowing the myth that a prticular way to dress signifies modesty and all that, arent we then exposing ourselves to a risk, just waiting in the background.

And so religious and cultural customs become confused.

So if muslim women are saying this ,why the acceptance in the west of what is not actually true.

The "Time" article was interesting, Visual - thanks.

However, I'm still no wiser as to why you personally are so aggrieved on behalf of your Muslim sisters. And, honestly, I really don't think I want to know. Don't mean to offend you, Visual, but the hijab thing really has got way out of proportion in terms of its representation on this and other threads.

I honestly think that, unless your outrage is purely motivated by your own irritation at seeing Muslim women dressed like this, you can leave it up to them to fight their own battles.

Cheers
Julia

So you dont believe in a minimum level of clothing to be worn in public? You would be happy for people to walk around naked on a hot day?
Bloved - I used to go to the Gold Coast in the 60s when the Meter Maids were the new rage. Not naked, but for those climates, it made some sense. These days there are more burqas than bikinins. Even black in colour, and I can only guess that they retain a phenomenal amount of heat. Now dont get me wrong - these people are very polite - you wouldn't find more polite people - and its all good. But heck talk about devotion. Sun beaming down, surf's up, but damned difficult to hang five though a pipeline and keep your face hidden.

Even I`m struggling to remember what got me started on this issue, perhaps it`s all the conspiracy theories, and why we are to blame for their woes .Whilst completely ignoring the myths that have sprang up around the reasons for their devoutness. The question asked was,why do we hate them.Implying that perhaps we, that is the west are the only ones who hate them.
We are not the only ones who hate them, extremists are hated even in countries that they claim to represent. The hijab I used as a representation of how we are being manipulated for want of a better word,to accept things that are not even accepted in these other countries. And how accepting these myths as facts has a subtle relevance for our lives that perhaps has nothing to do with religion but will eventually be linked.
My irritation has more to do with accepting myths that somehow makes it easier to justify violence against women. And God knows we need less myths. That is probably what made me think that I could use this forum to balance the lies with some facts. That is as small a part as I could play. Well so much space is taken by the conspiracists,I must have thought it was only fair, but there you go,Julia,no offence taken, but perhaps I should apologise for becoming the you know what,of the asf

Hey Visual,

You still have a few fans

Bob.

Oh thank God,
just finished watching islam unveiled,I have got it right all along.Normal people ,normal Muslims hate fundamental extremists ,so now we know, why we hate them, because all they do is lie.The extremists that is.Now,then back to my question, why this acceptance in Australia of this backward application of islam.

Your wecome Vis,

isn't it perthetic how so many muslims have let their faith be infiltrated by the power player mullahs who inspire vigorative infuence on the (RIchard Craniums ) who just follow follow follow follow :sheep: :sheep:

One must feel empathy for those muslims who are free of this hypocrisy !

Yes, indeed, Bob. Count me amongst them, Visual. I admire your passion in the face of so much apathy. If I were ever in trouble, I'd like to have you on my side.

The hijab thing really has become funny, though.

Cheers
Julia
