Why do people love jewellery?

Back to the topic, I have a Tag watch.

I have self esteem issues. I want people to look at me.

The ancients wore jewelry to make themselves seem more important than others.

Kings and Queens wear crowns FFS.

Most birds develop plumes that attract the opposite sex. Check out male lyrebirds.

What’s it in aid of in the end?

Self esteem, and getting your end in.

Ultimately, survival.

Sorry to be so reductionist.

ahh i see!

Makes sense! Alot of the Gold may of originated here i guess!

Most likely, we sometimes purchase bars of gold here then take it over with us to get it worked on. But i only do that if gold is a cheap price ($600 or less per ounce). Otherwise i buy it over there (less headaches)......

speaking of watches, i just bought a new one today

i have a thing for them also, but unfortunately cant afford the ones i would really like. I also have a thing for pens, although they arn't really jewellery.

i have managed to get myself a Mont Blanc pen though

Curious... if the gold is < $600 here, it would also be < $600 there too. Why would that be a factor?

why do girls like jewellery?
a sentimental touch?
"despite his mad tom - foolery
he loves me very much" ?

as long as something lasts like gold
with outstretched arms (and leaning)
the passions locked there ne'er grow cold
and never lose their meaning

PS I recommend the Saturday morning $2 flea market lol

Mostly Design and latest fashion... Italian designers are like the best in the world... It's a strong selling point for some... But yes it is just gold in the end

Isn't it just gold at the beginning and something else at the end after the Italian designers have had their way with it??

The gold could come from anywhere realistically... The pieces are sold as Italian if it was made in Italy... It's like a Japanese car being made with steel from Australia or Brazil...

Yep i meant i usually buy it under $600 per ounce and keep it for when the price rises (then use it, instead of paying market price).

But if its around this price i wont bother (the gold shouldnt move too much more up atm as people are complaining the gold price is too high already).

asxgorilla: yes basically the italians manufacture it, when people say i love italian gold they mean italian jewellery (worked). The gold at the end of the day is just a bare precious metal.

P.S there are 2 types of gold that im aware of that you can buy raw, our gold (U.S, Africa etc..) and a chinese gold (i think they mine it in asia). The chinese gold is cheaper (the colour isnt the same, and doesnt hold over time). This is according to the Australian Bullion Company so dont quote me on it

That doesn't make sense.

Unless the gold is alloyed, there is no way Chinese gold is any different to ours. Presuming an equal purity, gold is gold.

Here you go Wayne - whoever paid that needs a good hosen down-

Sehr gut!
Gut für wenn Bier getrunken wird. (With apologies for the appalling grammar)

Never bought it so i dont know, like i said thats according to the Australian Bullion Company.

I do know that for white gold Italy uses a high pure platium grade which gives it a nice shine. Other countries use cheaper methods which makes it look dull after a while.

nothing to do with gold - but this lady shows that it's possible to be sentimental over a paperweight shaped as a glass heart - or a rock for that matter !
I keep the paperweight beside me - I know if I'm not careful with it , it can get broken - and it means the world to me
