Who wants to be a spy?

Re: Who wants to be a spy.

I spy with my little eye that this paper article is dated 2010.

Guess I may qualify!
Wheres my pay check.

Re: Who wants to be a spy.

about 8 years ago I was thinking about joining ASIO - would have been acccepted as they view an honours degree as a prerequisite. The job itself is extremely boring and you have to be stationed in Canberra. Not quite like the movies!

I once read an article where somebody gave a definition of "oxymoron" and cited "military intelligence" as an example. lol, remember the Iraq WMDs?

ASIS is a little more exciting apparently.

And mixing with royalty?

Ex-MI6 chief admits agents do have a licence to kill but denies executing Diana
21st February 2008

Asked whether the French security services could have been part of plot ordered by Prince Philip with the collusion of Prince Charles and other senior Establishment figures, Sir Richard countered: "It is a mischievous and fanciful allegation."

He also denied that Prince Philip had secret links with MI6.

"So to the suggestion that Prince Philip is an active operational member of MI6, what do you say?" asked Mr Burnett.

"I can say nothing other than it is utterly ridiculous. The same is true of Prince Charles," he replied.

And Mr Fayed's allegation that Prince Philip and the intelligence agencies actually ran the country?

Sir Richard sighed and added: "I don't want to be flippant. I am tempted to say I am absurdly flattered, but once again it is an absurd allegation.

"It is difficult to deal with an allegation that is so absurd. It is completely off the map. I can't think of any other way of saying it."

Questioned about claims by renegade agent Richard Tomlinson that MI6 conspired to assassinate Serb leader Slobodan Milosovic, the former spymaster admitted that a Balkan agent had proposed killing another local warlord in the Nineties but described the idea as "entirely stillborn".

He said: "The proposal was essentially killed stone dead by the officer's line managers on the basis that the idea was out of touch with service practice.

"It was not a proposal to which any serious consideration was given."

Asked why an agent would even raise the possibility of assassination if there was no "ethos" of it, Sir Richard replied: "The service does not control the thoughts of its officers.

"I think the immediate reaction of the line management shows a very consistent attitude."

Sir Richard clashed frequently with Michael Mansfield, representing Mr Fayed, describing his claims of a plot as "tedious".

"I am sorry to disappoint you, Mr Mansfield," he said irritably at one point.

I am now wondering what MI6 is going to think when they see all this traffic on their site from ASF ... Wayne are you still going to use the sig 'Militant ASF Loyalist' ... LOL!

Well if they havn't picked it up yet, this should do it....
Cemtex, Bombs, Ammonium Nitrate, Hydrogen Peroxide, Detonation, Heroin, More Bombs, Brotherhood, Jihad.......... blahblahblah Ha Ha :D

Anyone know the medication that Mr Fayed is on?

Well if they want to pick me up, they won't have to go far. I live literally in the shadow of one of their "communications centres" (read- electronic surveillance).

There's two here and the main one on the other side of town is enourmous.

Half of Cheltenham work for them.:eek:

Does that make me an ex oxymoron or just a plain moron.. I transfered out into a more exciting corps...lol. This goes with the definition of an expert.. ex meaning old disused or discarded and spurt is a drip under pressure take note all those self confessed brokerage experts.

Having the prerequisite is just the beginning. You need to have the right temperment, be clearly vetted, and pass the phsychometric testing, before you are even considered. Your narrow view of being accepted would IMO have been enough to have you pushed out the side door at the first round..

cheers,

Sting, if they are as thorough on their vetting as I am led to believe they are, they WILL find this post and automatically cancel your application for blabbing about them and your choice to apply.
I've read through internship applications on a few "secret" service units and a fundamental part of the agreement is not to even acknowledge your application or intention to apply...It's great having a friend who vetts high ranking officials. You don't get names but the situational scenarios are absolute gold at dinner parties..

The job I read looked EXTREMELLY boring! No prerequisite about honours on the application........and never heard that in my life. I used to work for Defence, but for the CFO, you find out some pretty interesting things (including finding out some pre-released merger and aquisition moves between vendors they use), but other than that, damn boring place to work!

Infact, I live in Canberra and a girl I know works for them (I mean Attorney Generals Department) ;) She loves her job BTW, but has no honours degree.

Definately not quiet like the movies though! Same as war movies, anybody watch jarheads? Not quiet like "the movies" and probably never is (unless you get unlucky)!
