If you were to come across a spare 100,000 today, where would you put it? Consider that you can get 7% in an offset account against your home loan (if you had one) and consider the current market (greece, Italy, Ireland, USA etc)

Thoughts.

If I have a mortgage (7%) I would pay it off, before
I consider any investment because for you to get

the same return you have to earn 10% (assuming 30% tax bracket)
annual compounding year after year which is not easy....can be done
but not easy where as paying off your mortgage
is an easy 10% a year return...

Also having less debt give you more flexibility to deal
with fork in the road in life.

I wasnt lucky to have 100K spare when I have
the mortgage but I decided to knocked it off as
fast as I can before I start my saving for investment
and applied the magic of compounding ...

If it was spare I would put half on some spec oil/mining stocks that are about to spud in the next few months then cash in in the usual hype before spud :)

Adamim, understanding the ASF rules as you doubtless do, you won't be expecting any advice.

I will offer up two words for you. Deposit. Guarantee.
