What search engines do you use?

has anyone else noticed that with these drop down boxes that are appearing in search engines that when you use bing and try and search something derogitory against microsoft, it doesnt appear? and also in the search results.

usually google. but when I want something a bit more, I use a metasearch engine like ixquick.

Other have answered your question, so I'd like to throw out some other ideas.

I was just suspended from HotCopper. I'm not sure why as I only got a cryptic message, but I assume it was because a couple of my post had links to my blog. I was always polite and tried to add value. The way I was suspended done was outrageous. HotCopper clearly has complete for their members and think they can treat them as they see fit.

While the level of discussion here is generally superior to HotCopper, the main reasons I preferred HotCopper was their thread structure. While your structure is OK for general chat areas is is bad for stock specific boards. You may want to consider setting up a board for each stock once the discussion reaches a couple of pages. Each stock really requires it's own board so it can have threads, rather than just one long thread.

Post ranking is also good, e.g. vote up/vote down. this quickly lets users find the good posts and strangely it is an incentive to posters to write better posts.

Cross promotion on blogs. There appears to be quite a few bloggers who post here. You may consider cross promotion/advertising deals with them. Eg I have a PR3 site, yup not much, but I call it home. I would happily put a permanent link up to your site in exchange for a rotating place on your site.

Recruit HotCopper casts off like me. There were always scores of people getting suspended and a very high percentage of posts being moderated/deleted. That annoys people. I see that as a great opportunity for you. You may consider getting posters here to "recruit" the quality posters from HotCopper.

I just checked your page rank and it's 3. You really should have a higher PR than me. That means you haven't been doing any SEO. Heck I do almost none and I have a 3! Having links at sites like mine and other bloggers would help and there are probably knowledgeable SEO people here who are happy to help.

Use this community and you could build something of value.

Start a post of the day, or post of the week feature like TMF does. I know that used to slightly motivate me to write better posts.

Think what your users value and deliver it.

Just thinking out loud. You may already be ten pages ahead of my suggestions. At any rate, good luck, it's a great looking site. As I said the fastest fix you could do is start boards for specific stocks, but perhaps you've already rejected that idea.
