What I learned today...

I learned that Telstra are cheats and thieves after my broadband bill ran over by $900 when I didn't notice the $150 per gig over the limit charge.

The extra charge is cleverly hidden as 15c per mb, the penny doesn't drop till it's too late.

Moving everything to Inernode tomorrow, I've had it with Telstra.

Burnsy this happened to me earlier this year with Telstra - I was having problems with my cable connection which has unlimited so switched over to my wireless broadband but forgot I was on that connection and pulled down some large files. They also told me that it resets every month - I assumed that meant the first of the month but for me it was the 11th of the month.

When I got the $900 bill I phoned confused because I thought it was supposed to reset at the start of the month. Thats when they told me it was the 11th for my case because my bill cycle fell on the 11th. They also told me there was a plan for an extra $2 per month that gave me 5 times the capacity and didn't have any limits just slowed down once it reached 5 Gig.

Anyway - the long and short of it - I filled out their complaint form (after being encouraged to by my wife because I usually can't be bothered with these things). In particuar explaining about the middle of the month thing when I thought the bandwidth limits reset at the start of each month, and also questioning why they hadn't automatically updated me to the better plan given it was basically the same cost.

Well they refunded the lot - gave me a $900 credit!.
