just to continue the tradition........

for me, no real changes - bit of stability required.

AND FOLKS, PLEASE LEAVE THE POLITICAL BIAS & AGENDAS FOR OTHER THREADS - THIS IS JUST YOUR WANTS FROM THE 2010 BUDGET.

A balanced point of view that represents sound fiscal policy that gives a clear and definitive path for Australia to trade it's way to greater prosperity.

Also a health care policy that clearly evidences more hospital beds, emergency departments, doctors and nurses. Pharmaceutical benefits to be increased thusly reducing the price of medicines.

Other than that I would be happy really if they did NOTHING for a change.

Massive rise in baby bonus thanks

Nah, scrap the Baby Bonus, my kids have grown up... Oops, nah, wait... they might want more kids.

Less spending would be a good start

I don't mind a bit of spending, so long as they do it for a productive cause and do it productively of course.

Seriously though, tax reform is a continuing issue and needs to be looked at.

I just hope that the incentives for personal superanuation are at least maintained and rural Aus can benifit from more decentralisation.

Fiscal prudence. Get rid of the baby bonus. Reduce public service numbers. Incentives for hard work and savings. Incentives for investment. Adjust negative gearing laws such that it is only possible on new dwellings (not if purchasing an existing dwelling). Likewise for the first home owners grant.

Nahh... wait for 12 months before that happens. Im going hammer and tong here lads!

I'll be right Jack!

Brad

Happy to help out when needed bradk

Increase tax on any large national or multinational companies, why finish with just them mining companies? Why not tax the hell out of the banks as well?

Increase the first home owners grant to make sure that housing prices keep rising, lets help push the affordabillity right out of the housing market once and for all.

Increase spending on infrastructure and health, so it will push up interest rates and cause an ever worse two speed economy.

Increase welfare payments to any minority group so they keep their mouth shut during the next election.

Increase spending for the immigrants so they all get their own free donut when entering Australia, we dont want them to go hungry do we?

seriously though, as stated above, i wish they would just do nothing. The only thing they should be doing is reducing the amount of waste of tax payer $ at the moment.

Anyone know when its officially comes out?

Why bother ....... details have leaked already.

May 12 (Bloomberg) -- Australia faces record budget deficits until 2016 as it embarks on the biggest building program in its history, spending on roads, rail lines and high-speed Internet to blunt fallout from the global recession.

The budget deficit will be A$32.1 billion ($24.5 billion) in the year ending June 30, rising to A$57.6 billion in fiscal 2009-10 as a recession that will linger through next year drives up unemployment and erodes tax receipts, Treasurer Wayne Swan said in his annual budget released today in Canberra.

Swan will reduce tax breaks, welfare payments and raise medical insurance costs for high-income earners as well as sell a record A$60 billion of bonds next fiscal year to pay for the stimulus plan. He will raise the pension age to 67 years from 65 by 2023, the first increase since the introduction of government payments to retirees in 1909, to achieve long-term savings.

“This is not an easy budget for easy times,” Swan, 54, told parliament today. “It contains the hard choices that chart the course back to surplus.”

Where might they cherry pick the Henry Review to increase taxes ?

Reducing the CGT discount from 50% to 40% is one that comes to mind.

That's about last years budget.

EXACTLY drsmith. The thread asks me what I want for today's budget. I would like last years budget thanks. Will be a photocopy of the same I am guessing. Therefore they have done NOTHING. Leave the damn thing alone and let it get up to operating temperature instead of fiddling with it.

I don't think so.

Expect some (further) stealthy tax increases to pay for election bribes.

I am on bended knee to your foresight. Yesssss .... the increase in taxes to pay for the election bribes. Forgot about that one.

Can't wait for Koshy to get hold of Kruddy on the steps of parliament to discuss this one tomorrow at 0 degrees celsius in Canberra tomorrow morning.
