Belgium and Europe have enough economic and cultural problems (like Flanders seceding) than to also worry about a drop in sales of female trinkets or to have to set up a bikini black market.

Multiculturalism hasn't gone too far, but it's gone far enough.
 
This will continue until people are fighting in the streets and it's too late.

Polititians are too gutless to confront something like this in a sensible way, you either have the cowards who do nothing or the nut cases who want to throw everyone out.

So, 2 questions on this issue.

1) I often wonder, what if it (Muslim/Christian roles) were reversed?

If Christians start flooding the Middle East/Muslim countries (e.g., Saudi)
Setting up churches and disregarding the countries principles/cultures. Imagine, hot dogs (pork), pubs (alcohol), women not covered up (bikini's at the beach)

What would happen?
Is Australia and the western world losing it's culture/values?

2) Extreme left and right wing political parties in Europe are now gaining a LOT of popularity. The newly elected left-wing Greek party, one member was walking down the street last week saying, 'Greece is for Greeks only, everyone else, out'.

Is this the beginning of 1930's all over again, where the Muslims have now filled the shoes of the Jews?
 

I dont see Jews blowing up innocent people.

The real issue is the violence and attitude that "we will take over the world" that element needs to be removed from our society.

Enclaves pop up where different ethnic groups congregate - plenty of those in Asia (expat communities). It's natural for ppl with common or shared values to associate with each other. If the numbers become large enough then they will be targeted. If actions by other of the same ethnic group are threatening then fear grabs hold. Racism occurs mostly through ignorance & fear. And the masses will be led by the few.

I'm not surprised the extremes are becoming popular again. It will happen again & again.

Interesting historical perspective - each great civilisation so far goes through rise, plateau then decline. And the decline is often preceded by moral decline, increased internal violence and such. The great white civilisation is, I fear/suspect, heading towards it's decline. Humans tend to think of themselves as civilised but I'm not so convinced about that.

If ppl want excellent management of threats then be prepared to have greater state control (police state??) & racist policies.
 
I'm afraid there are so many migrants here now that they are a powerful voting bloc. No party wants to offend them by restricting migration .

Migrants are more likely to vote for the party that let them in and who continue to allow them to bring their relatives here.

Politicians who argue against rapid population growth are marginalised, because restricting migration is supposedly anti economic growth (which can't continue indefinitely anyway).

The familiar catchcry "we are all migrants" is supposed to be an excuse for continuing migration until all the available farmland is filled with houses and we can't feed ourselves any more.

I hope I'm not around when that happens.

In Australia big business wants higher immigration.
The Libs tripled the immigration rate and Labour hasn't lowered it.
They just keep the populaces eyes on the refugees so they miss the total picture.

Another million coming to Melbourne over the next 12 years. I don't know how the infrastructure will cope.
 

I understand that but we as a species are more advanced now and should be able to handle the "decline" in morality that comes with less restrictions.
Who's judgement says it's decline anyway, some would say repression of women is far less moral than a woman in a bikini.

I have no problem with more policing and policies that prevent clashes between incompatible races or exclude races that attempt to take over a country by stealth.

There are concerns over the ageing population & funding of it. So a country needs to have a sufficient % of ppl who can work & be taxed. If it doesn't breed it's own, then how else apart from immigration?

There was much concern about the "dagos" & "wops" & "spics" who came from Europe post WW2. They formed communities, spoke their lingo & ate funny food (read non-British for all that). History repeating itself but with a different flavour.
 

I am pro immigration but not at this pace. It needs to be slowed down.

Might have been valid 50 years ago, but you can't continue to reduce the amount of arable land and simultaneously increase the population that depends on that arable land. The most fertile land in the country is on the east coast, and that is rapidly disappearing. Transfer the population to the regions and you start running out of water.

Rapid population growth leads to a decline in quality of life.
 

"more advanced" - technologically definitely. Morally & culturally I say it varies. A decline in community structure & social compassion, movement from extended to nuclear family is not, in my view, advancement.

Moral decline - generally considered to be detrimental deviation away from societal norms & moral code. Increased anti-social behaviour, repression/oppression of groups within society, suppression of basic rights of people, movement towards extreme in sexuality & sexual behaviour, etc. Obviously there is bias created by the particular set of circumstances of the viewer.

I agree with you re prevention of clashes between ethnic groups. There are the feuding groups within the "one race" that cause problems. It's not as simple as "send them back" because some of them are 3rd or 4th generation of the new country, displaying attitudes that weren't brought by the ancestors. The KKK were a minority group within what was probably (don't have the numbers) the biggest ethnic group in the US, with actions that were condoned/supported by the same group.

Agreed - taking over a country by stealth also needs to be managed. As much as I dislike the White Australia policy, one needs to be cautious about who one lets into one's house. It's not about the colour of the skin or the cultural practices (worship, food) as much as it's about being a responsible, respectful, member of the new society.

For the record - I have & have had as friends & associated with Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Atheists, Christians, Homosexuals, black, white, Asian... the list goes on 7 includes politicians.
