Watches...

I have one of the earlier and less expensive Charles Jourdans (small, thin, leather band), but rarely wear it. I find they get in the way and in any case my phone always has the time.

The best bit of this thread is springhill's idea to treat yourself and others when you have a winner. Doesn't have to be a swiss watch - could be a $20 book. Such an important concept in trading and I'd totally forgotten about it. So thanks!

Some great responses and watches - thanks guys!

I remember watching an episode of Antiques Roadshow :)xyxthumbs) and this guy had a Patek Philippe handed down from his grandfather - long story short he thought it was worth a couple of hundred pounds...turned out to be significantly more. His face was priceless! :2twocents:2twocents

Now comes my second question - do you guys buy from dealers new or secondhand?

I know they're probably cliche but i really like a Rolex. I wear a nice Citizen watch though. I believe in living to ones means and my means do not warrant a Rolex at the moment. :D

Just after the gfc, Patek Phillipe, Rolex, Omega,Waltham, Oris, Ebel, were all going cheap on ebay U.S from reputable dealers.
Not so now.
As the price of gold shot up a couple of years later collectible watches started climbing.

There are always bargains, but there are scams aplenty.
I bought an Omega Constellation from an Australian seller(who had great feedback over a lot of years) on a popular auction site, it turned out to be a real dud. lol

My ex-GF was an interpreter and she had a client that would come to China quite often for business. One night he went out and left his Rolex in his room at a 5 star hotel.

The next day while getting to airport he glanced at his watch, guess what...not the same Rolex...very close but not the same.

Needless to say they swapped the real one for a fake:frown:.
