Hello friends!

Are there any watch enthusiasts on ASF?

I'm keen to get something nice to wrap around my wrist...have my eye on a Breitling...but wanted to hear what other people have/like/thoughts etc.

I think there was another thread on this topic.

I'm a TAG man.

Men can only have a certain amount of respectable jewellery.

Watches should be our thing.

Sadly it's a bit of a thing with a mate of mine
When we go O/S we bring back another for our collection.
Often envious of each others purchase!

Breitling

Everyday use Longines.

I used to, and actually still do, like the look of Brietlings however their sizes have gone over the top and now looks like you are carrying a small dinner plate on your wrist. The older ones are much better sized imo.

Personally i have a few watches with my fav being a Raymond Weil. Prices have actually come down a lot in the last few yrs across the board, and depending how much you are spending you can even get custom made ones for 10 - 20k.

Personally i would love one of the Mont Blanc skeleton watches or the Hermes, but there was only one of the Hermes ones in Aus

Half your luck! I'm a big fan of Breitlings. Care to share models?

Longines everyday? I've got a Casio :

I agree 100%. What sort of TAG do you have?

I also did try and look for the thread but couldn't locate it? Feel free to merge

Got a Breitling in Bali.... $10. Massive saving. Looks great and still working after a month!

If I do well on a stock, I always reward myself and my wife.

I can thank RFL for this.

SuperOcean

To look the modern go to man, an Omega Speedmaster is the classic, most of the others copy it.

If you want understated class, it is hard to go past Patek Philippe, my favorite.

I've got a Rolex bought in Lucerne.

Tag golf watch and one other daily and a few fakes bought in Turkey.

Like most guys I love machinery, be it watches, cars guns or trains (love trains)

Have to agree with you on the trains.
2012 we did the Eurostar London to Paris, TGV through Bassel to Zurich, then the local train through the Gothard Pass into Milan and Italian Trenitalia to Venice then onto Rome. Absolutely brilliant, loved it.
This year we did the Indian Pacific, it cetainly isn't the same as their European counterparts, but is a terrific experience and the food was top shelf 5 star.

Thinking of doing the East Orient Express from Bangkok to Singapore.

Have you done the Kanchanaburi to Mon Tok on the Burma railroad, magic just pure magic.
It makes you appreciate how little there is between a charmed life and a life of tragedy.

Ahh, is that why I like the watches where you can see the gears and ****?

As much as I like you, sp, I'll pass.

Mate whoever gave that to you, is someone who understands class, it can't be copied, it can't be demeaned.

That's why digital watches didn't kill Swiss Watches, that's why Porsche isn't being killed by WRX's.

That's why people with the long game plan do o.k.

I have a Patek Philippe. It was given to me; graduation present. I never wear watches, so it just gathers dust.

Man that is such a shame. As SP says, keep it and pass it down to your kids or somehting, but it seems wasted just sitting there
