The Vatican is charging the Popes butler with "access to secret documents", and if found guilty he could go to gaol for 30 years.

That's probably what someone like Bradley Manning would get.

Apparently, some of the secret papers exposed dirty dealings in the Vatican's purchasing procedures. Big deal.

Why should this organisation which is not a country have the power of judge and jury ?

They have some nerve imo.

no, the Swiss Guards get out their Swiss Army Knives; with those, and some assistance from the Boss Above, they can repel any enemy.
Besides, they have enough nuns and pious pilgrims that would be willing to serve as human shields.
 
Plus being the rich's square mile on Earth helps.
 
Good to see some balls in this day and age - hopefully this pesky butler learns his lesson over the next 30 years .. Tsk tsk money hungry traitor ....
