well the Dems vilified Tulsi Gabbard ( in earlier campaigns ) and yet the public MIGHT have elected her if given the choice

i guess we will have to wait and see if the Dems anoint Newsom as the next Presidential candidate ( for 2028 )

Says you, and all the left leaners before any policies have been enacted.
actually the 'left-leaners ' did even worse than that , they introduced ( or hand-crafted ) some horrific tools ready to be abused , by anyone temped to do so .( now or in the future )

while i listen mostly to 'alternate media ' i am amused at how many of my favorite commentators were Progressive or even activists pre-2008 , but have shifted away from Democrat/Green viewpoints

while i think Trump will face immense challenges , it will still better better for the US , eventually ( but it was always was going to be painful and costly to the masses )

. I can't think of a single thing harris even stood for other than "I'm not trump".
The whole democrat position even in the last election when Joe Biden won was just people who did not want Trump to win voting for the Democrats. Almost nobody was fond of Joe Biden and the same can be said for Kamala Harris. As much as Obama's policies were trash at least he had charisma, was well spoken and actually had a large genuine fan base.

Harris did plenty of long form interviews etc smurf, they were just utter trainwrecks.
OK I'll stand corrected there but the point remains that it's a departure from the trend of ever shorter form content and single sentence approach. So I still think it has some relevance to media companies if that becomes a trend.

Republicans very seriously looking like taking the house now too.

I wonder if we'll get any supreme court retirements/deaths in the next four years.
One of the older Republican picks is planning to retire. When replaced, they will all be relatively young and should control the court for the next 25 years, even if the Democrats were in from next election and the next 20 years.

DeJa'Vu? 1980's Ronald Reagan era?

In a special video for investors, CEO/CIO Cathie Wood examines the shifting post-election landscape, highlighting the potential for economic growth and regulatory changes to create a more supportive environment for innovation and investment. She also discusses advancements in multiomics and digital assets, encouraging investors to adopt a fresh perspective on these emerging sectors.

Potentially a couple of retirements they reckon.

There is also talk of of stealing the Democratic policy and stacking the Court with another 4. Absurd on the face of it, but it makes sense as Dems WILL do so when they get the opportunity.

Talk of fugue state geriatric Mitch McConnell finally limping off stage but he has one spoke left to put into the wheel of MAGA republicans. As the retiring senate leader he gets to nominate the candidates for his replacement if I get it right. So he has nominated three and two of them are RINO anti-trumpers. Then he's imposing a secret ballot of senators to select the new incumbent from the three with plenty of time to get to influence senators before Trump gets in. The senate has the power to dilute, delay or thwart Trump's programs if I understand it. Every dirty trick.

but by then Vance won't need any training wheels ( maybe even run with a Trump jnr. ) will know who is who , and so will the voters , now sure that might push the Republican Party into the dustbins of history , but the remaining group might actually respect the US taxpayer ( not bleed them dry )

It will be interesting to see how the American markets go tonight. With ET going one hour back ( or is it forward ) the NYSE doesn't open until 00.30 my time so I'll catch it early afternoon their time, 5-7am here. The ASX trades in the dark on Mondays as it doesn't know what the NYSE will do.

I won't be trading in the US tonight, I'm mostly in to semi conductor and related stocks, and a pinch of silver ( I know, always one crazy on the forum ) until the dust settles on The Donald's win so if I sleep in I'll catch up with @bigdog 's reliable summary in the morning.

@garps That was so last week. It's 0130 US open for us in the major states.

Ah So. The mental deterioration which seemed to have accelerated is explained by New Yawk changing time on a different weekend. That is all I need to know. NY opens at 00.30 for me at 01.30 for you and 09.30 the previous day for the NYSE.

I might write to the Donald and ask him to make no change next year. Stick with QLD time. Better still I’ll get that maggot Rudd to tell him to not change.

Thanks Peter.

Any reason why AUS investors shouldn't get out of ASX and into US stocks?
Good question, I think the Australian market is going to become basically moribund, with the American market going gangbusters on freaking crystal meth..

I've been tentatively moving over the last couple of months, so yeah that is my answer.
