Uranium resurgence

Germany found out the hard way that green energy is costly to the overall economy, they ramped up their reactors a few months ago. I think there was a lag in supply and now it's slowly catching up. Probably going on in other countries also, but not something I've researched.

Heard on the wireless that these new fangled smaller module reactors talked about aren't actually a reality.
They don't exist yet. Just saying.
quik wik..

Are there any working small modular reactors?

As of 2023, only China and Russia have successfully built operational SMRs

But, I'm sure the woman who sounded like she was from the US and also a professional on the matter thought she was correct.
Bloody aunty jack...

Should have used the word "apparently"

Russia even moved some by boat to artic regions years ago, but the only know how, in the west, are nuclear submarine and aircraft carriers builders-> France, UK and US.. and all military so full of blacked out design pages for civilians
What about we ask China to build our SMR, one per Capital city.... LOL..

I listened to the whole thing I posted and what I heard on the wireless was a snippet.
I missed the bit before it and after it, which made it very misleading, but I need to retract the overall statement.
Thanks fact checker.

Have a listen yourself though and you should understand how the mistake occurred! 🦀🐒

Below is a list of all the countries that have at least one nuclear reactor (obviously some have many) that provides baseload power.
About 80% of the g20 countries.
Somebody should really be pointing out to them how much money they have wasted over the years building uneconomic power plants.

I almost switched off at the intro from the ABC presenter whose tone was obviously negative to the idea. A Greens voter for sure. Then the expert girl said there were no SMRs, except for these SMRs... what? We really need to fact check every single news piece that Their ABC present. If only we had have built some large nuclear plants in the 70s as planned before coal became the devil.

We would have decommissioned every single one of these 10 y ago as did Germany, Belgium under the pressure of the watermelons

Agree, unlikely to happen in our lifetime. Unless we do reach a point where the lights go out and we can't recharge our devices.
By that time, you could choose to start a coal plant in a year or a nuclear one in 2 decades....choice will be easy..and yes, you can have a coal plant up and running in a year..saw that done for a mining project OS...

Upper value $80
Lower value $60
Was late January expectations.
Has held up better than expected.

Happy to raise those values by $10 each ATM.
I think it really needs to consolidate around expected values to have a sustainable run.
Smoke and mirrors for now -(sentiment).

It needs a lot of research into mothballed Uranium mines to see what the real picture is.

January 24, 2024 - McClean Lake uranium mine in Canada to resume production

Operations at McClean Lake, owned by the namesake JV (MLJV) in which Orano is the operator and has a 77.5% stake, were suspended in 2008 in response to weak uranium prices.
