Hi scranch

I'm not sure if your story is true or not because I have heard the same story 1000's of times elsewhere.

But even if your story is true, I don't see the point you are trying to make.

I am sure there are Catholics who have robbed banks, committed murder and who knows what else, but I would very surprised if you could come up with any verifiable information that shows they are even close to being in the majority.

I'm sure that in all groups (religious or whatever you like) of people in society you will find both good and bad people.

And as far as any Catholic or whoever refusing to sell contraception goes I don't see that as being anymore judgemental than those who choose to believe the use of contraception is acceptable are being judgemental when they complain about someone with opposing views refusing to serve them.

Both server and customer are simply standing up for what they believe is right...nothing more nothing less imo...so either both or neither are being judgemental imo. It just depends on your definition of 'judging'.

cheers

this is kinda embarrasing but i am new to this forum and do not no all the abbreviations. could some one tell me what "imo" means

thanks joe.

tonight on the news they continued the pointless streaming of information that we have known for days. except for one thing which is they wanted their ipods!!

Hello bullmarket,
Now, just take a deep breath and relax a little. My comments were somewhat light hearted as, I thought, an appropriate response to your amusing remark about what Mrs bullmarket would do if she discovered you were down a mine shaft with another woman! I did "accept your reply" and if you recall, offered you my appreciation of it.

I hardly see that I am "hijacking the thread" in view of the multiple comments already made by several members on the general topic of religion, particularly including your own.

There is only at this stage so much one can say about the two trapped miners and natural offshoots of the primary topic are the media and, after you started it, thoughts about whether or not God had any bearing on their fate
You are continually and repetitively asking other members to "provide verifiable proof of their assertions" or words to that effect, in fact it has pretty much appeared to be one of your mantras, so I suppose I was simply asking for a little quid pro quo from you with regard to your assertion that God and/or people's prayers are likely to have affected the current situation which we are discussing.

The other one used money is the root of all evil. The full quote is
from the Amplifying Bible, Tim. 6: 10 "For the love of money (and all it buys) placed before the love of God (in reality) is the root of all kinds of evil."

Hi Retro

By the way - Merkin had the quote closer than you.....

....."For the love of money is the root of all evils,..." Timothy6:10.

The Amplifying Bible is 20th century spin designed to sell editions to the Hillsong crowd on the basis that the English language cannot be easily translated from Hebrew and Greek. It is the "new" easy read. IMO it was pretty self explanatory before!

Anyway if we are going to start quoting the bible I'll leave you with a favourite of mine......"Yeaaahhh Baby!!"...no hang on... that was Austin Powers.....

Yes ...I remember now

"Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the handiwork of an artist" Song of Songs 7:2

Hi Julia

no problem but if you look back through my posts in this thread you will see that I clearly said no-one can prove any of this 100% one way or the other and so it boils down to faith and what one personally chooses to believe in.

Have a nice evening

Hi again Julia

In addition to my previous post, you also stated in your post to me:

.........There is only at this stage so much one can say about the two trapped miners and natural offshoots of the primary topic are the media and, after you started it, thoughts about whether or not God had any bearing on their fate..........

If you also look back through the posts in this thread and read them more carefully you will see I did not start anything.

My very 1st post in this thread was in reply to prospector's query (post #5 in this thread) on why peoples' prayers did not work for the miner who unfortunately did not survive.

So if you want me to take your posts and questions to me more seriously in the future, maybe start off by reading relevant posts more carefully and getting your facts straight before posting

See you in the soup tomorrow

Well the grubs are at it again Ch9 in trouble because they tried to get rescue workers to take video of the rescue they called police! You see it's trying to beat the other networks in getting an exclusive why simple so when the TV logies are awarded they want it!!! :swear: I believe they the media should be banned from these sort of things and just allow the ABC to do it IMHO

cheers laurie

Hi laurie

and I see Mike Munro hasn't been back on Ch9 (in Melbourne at least) since the BS he came out with a few nights back suggesting the miners might be out in a few hours.

Had he checked his facts before reporting he would have seen that it was always going to take at least a few days to get the miners out given the events and progress of the last couple of days.

cheers

bullmarket

Hey bullmarket, FACTS and Mike Munro are totally incompatible :swear:

He hasnt been back though, has he! Maybe even Eddie was embarassed by his Sunday night performance.

I hope when this tragedy has been resolved that the media take a good look at their behaviour - it certainly isnt what the average person wants to see.

hmmmmmm, parents will today descend into the mine to see their sons,
you`d think it would make sense for the sons to come out and meet their parents outside the hell hole.
honestly! story by the way dismissed by the spokesperson for the mine.

They should be out in 48 hours - say Wednesday or Friday or .....

Watch the media circus once they do come up.

They'll be trying to find some sensational angle on the whole episode irrespective of the facts.

yeah dutchie the second they come up it will be even worse. they will be 60 minutes in every magazine ahhhhhh i cant wait to be bored to death with it.

IMOH== in my honest opinion

Stan 101 on a tangent here... sorry in advance.

The Sunday Mail in Brisbane today " Our Heroes"

I'm sorry, but I've just about had enough of the local journalism as I can take.
I have just got back from Mackay for the third time this week and am bamboozald by the prices up there for a plot of dirt. $225000 in a backwater for a 750m2 plot.

Miners (from records sourced via MCK) average 125K for a 4 day on 4 day off roster. These people realise there is risk, hence their pay. For the Sunday Mail to call these unforunate people "Heroes" really burns me up.

I know it has no concern to anyone here, but I am so close to just moving to Cambodia or Burma to avoid all this spin. I am embarrassed to be Australian at the moment. Not only for this issue , but many.

So many people doing their own thing and helping people on the spir of the moment are heroes every day: moreso than these unfortunates who are stuck down a mineshaft though paid for the danger of their scenarios.

I'm ashamed to be Australian right now, more than most times.

Don’t despair.
You can always try to get another country’s citizenship, Hicks did, and if you chose wisely you can be proud again.

Best of luck.

San,
you realise Burma is a dictatorship, maybe you ask Aung San Suu Kyi.To swap places with you.

Thankks for the feedback...

lived in Burma before, I got lied to as much as I do here...

Don't get me wrong. I feel for these guys, bvut how can they possible be heros...
If the majority agree they are... This country is no place for me.

They are victims of circumstance.

cheers,
