Trading Technologies - X_Trader Pro

I guess I'm not the only one that got that email from AMP:xyxthumbs

We got the DOM going tonight but X-Study is not working yet. So will reinstall and try again tomorrow or tomorrow night with Justin again....have you tried it Rado? Did I read the cost right? .50 per side ?

Nah not yet. Yes your right .50 per a side or $1200 a month (for x-trader pro) whatever takes your fancy I guess. You would think they would have more competitive pricing since they now have more serious competition like Jigsaw, 9G and various others.

I think it's also the data Speed and quality as well as the additional functionality that they charge the premium for...

TT is running this in java, so its sort of like TWS, except its running htrough the browser, fire fox.

I'm a little worried about FFox's stability. It crashed allot on the laptop.

Otherwise i think i could definately execute through this. I can still use NT for analysis, but TT looks the go for execution if i can just test the speed in real time....

TH, if you read this, can you comment on TT's product yet?

Oh yeah looks ok I guess. Still these browser based platforms are still chunky and only designed for 1 screen which makes them useless for trading :2twocents

Nah, i had a couple workspaces open at the same time, that why i was wondering about the browser stability.

You can just keep opening different workspaces in new windows. i'll try some more next week, see if i can fill a couple a screens with DOMs and a couple with charts, then i'll post a shot.

Can, what's the story with the trading platforms... what did you settle on? Did you play more with TT Platform? Do you think browser based platforms are any good? I thinking using Linux (Ubuntu) The Windows 8.1 on my laptop when I am underway is driving me nuts.

Finally got my new TT platform migrated over to my trading PC after first trials on my laptop. Very resource lean being html....At the moment i only have CME products, so this is my YM workspace, i might record the NFP announcement tonight....

This is actually one window stretched across the four screens and then populated with the TT widgets....

as far as execution goes, i have NFI. For one, i cannot trade on the sim feed to become familiar with the product...and two I'm not game yet as the connectivity hasn't been very good...i might try a live ES trade today and see how i go, maybe YM, its cheaper....

Can you 'pop' the windows out onto their own or are they embedded into a browser?
They're floating inside a pop out workspace browser window. So once you stretch the window out, you can populate it as much as you like. The drawback being you can't work around objects from other apps....

I thinking using Linux (Ubuntu) The Windows 8.1 on my laptop when I am underway is driving me nuts.

Just to answer the Linux question, I had a trial version (of the web based TT Trader) up and running on Linux Mint 17.3 a few weeks ago, been too busy to have much of a look at it but it was fully functional as far as I could see. Mint 17 is based on the Ubuntu LTS 14.04 version, but I doubt there'd be any issues with the current 15.10 Ubuntu.

I've been using Linux for several years so happy to help out if you're making the switch from Windows, perhaps start a new "Linux" thread if you run into problems or PM me.

Thanks guys, i am still running my Win 7 at home, have not taken the dive into Linux yet but probably will in the near future. I will be traveling overseas soon and Win 8 laptop is still a bi*ch.

Hi CanOz,

What Futures Broker do you recommend? I've been looking into a few like Macquarie, AMP & NinjaTrader Brokerage etc..

x_trader looks good, do you find it executes better/faster that using NinjaTrader with CQG?

I've currently been using NinjaTrader with CQG in demo with some add-ons like Jigsaw & GOMI.

Thanks,

TB
