TLS Landline unusual calls

I am currently still on BigPond Broadband with Telstra even though I can connect to NBN whenever I want. At the moment it doesn't make sense as I consistently get 115Mbps on Bigpond Cable for about $60pm, with unlimited (or it feels unlimited) data.

My Optus NBN plan costs $65 per month, and its unlimited high speed data.

I have seen Telstra advertising about Cyber Security...
Not that interested, except for the cyber security player interest.
Any company off the ASX per chance?
Easier to ask here than go looking... :D

In my opinion give Telstra the arse, you don't need to deal with them, just hook up with a company like Aussie Broadband, landlines are a thing of a bygone era.
So why did we spend $50billion of taxpayers money to improve it.
Which is what I have been asking for the last 10 years.
Why werent the telecomunication companies made to pay for it? Now we have a $hit landline system and internet that costs more.

What speed do they give you?

My main issue with going NBN is that there are lots of problems being reported particularly by those on a hybrid link which I will be on. Up until about a month ago I never had any problems with my cable broadband other that a couple of planned outages per year. Two weekends in the last month I have had frequent dropouts lasting several hours, but when I check Telstra outages they say there are none in my area. I hope they are not trying to incent me to go NBN. It won't work in Telstra's favour because as soon as I am forced to NBN, it won't be with Telstra. They have already lost 3 of the 4 services I had with them (Foxtel through Telstra, mobile and landline) due to their administrative incompetence and once I go NBN I will be rid of them forever.

I don’t have any numbers, but the speed and stability is a lot better than my prior service, but that was also in a different city.

Eg, I switched to NBN when I moved into a new house in a different city.

So I don’t know if the better service is due to it now being NBN or just because My new area has better lines in general.

We stream 100% of our TV content, and never have an issue with slow speed or interruptions, there has been months where we have used over 1,000 GB.

I am not on NBN yet, but I am sure that is not how it works.

We Had to change to NBN about a year ago and I wanted to keep things as they were, landline with Telstra and internet with Internode.

Both Internode and Telstra told me that I could not do that, I had to have them both with the one provider so I dropped my landline phone and number and went mobile for my phone.

By dropping the landline at $50 pcm and going mobile at $10pcm I get some drinking silver each month

I arranged with Internode to have a land line with VOIP and NBN internet at 50k level, this cost the same as my old internet connection.

I have never plugged a phone into the line but the net is good, reliable and as fast as promised

apparently it's a problem with the Telstra exchange where they are using my landline number to automatically initiate calls and when my phone rings the other person claims that I have called them . last week a Telstra technician came to the house and checked the connection which he said was fine then he thought the issue may have been with the handset so he replaced that with a new one . He then did something outside on the pole wire and said that wasn't the issue so I think the issue lies in the exchange automatically dialling my landline number out to other people without me even touching the phone so I referred this problem to the telecommunications ombudsman for investigation
