The Voice

I was lucky to climb up it on a school trip circa 1985.

Do you think Aboriginals ever climbed up it? I don't quite understand why it's off limits. Maybe they never did??
Would require effort and when they/if they did make to the top would find no handouts available to them.

John Anderson's very sensible view:

Yes activists will say this is more scaremongering and mis and disinformation.

But, we know John is correct.

The Voice is the gateway to Makarrata. Treaty and Truth telling. Without the Voice these other aspects of the Uluru Statement won't get through to legislation because there's no basis for it. That's why the Voice has been called a Trojan Horse for reparations, etc.

Albo has been quite deceitful in the way he's presented this. His first statement as PM was to say he'd implement the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full. But, now he hasn't even read it in full. He's also forced indigenous activists to recant their earlier statements that the Uluru Statement was much longer (18-25 pages or so) to be just the one page because he knows darn well what that will mean. People will actually read the detail behind the one pager. What an absolute cluster.

Is it true the Treaty of Waitangi has direct veto power of legislation @2:28?

Sean when She and m lived in NZ *there for 3 years) the Maoris had distinct areas with elected members and weilded some power in the bum warming department.
Wouldn't put them in the same class as our 1st people though.

Typical, imagine if nonindigenous had done this?

Still, bringing things up that have nothing to do with current-day Australians, are they really that backwards in life?
Were deemed to be stoneage and appear to do so still, except when money is involoved, then 21st century.

I mean whites are getting thrown out of positions in government. It will get worse if the Voice gets up.
I feel that The Voice is a dead duck. Of all the people I have spoken to narry a soul is voting in the affirmative. All have said NO way is the go.

I hope you are correct, but I’m not as confident as you. School education has failed the past few generations, they have not taught the meaning of the constitution, or how to question what is told to them. Then we have those that have blind faith. And don’t forget the bleeding hearts. And we haven’t even seen the advertisement blitz from the Yes side that is about to start.

I feel that the referendum is going to be a close one, it can go either way.

It seems to be this way, why doesn't anyone in politics point this out to them in public? Surely what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Australia is looking more like Zimbabwe all the time.
I'd say so but it does not sink in that they're only 3% of the population compared to Africa that's 80%.
I think I already know who will be on the losing end if they start this apartheid business. It's time they need to face the truth, and if they want to get ahead in life, they need to join in with the rest of Australia and be one rather than consider themselves as superior beings that need to constantly feed off the system and become reliant on social welfare. Years of funding mismanagement due to I know what's best for my people have brought them to where they're now. They need to find their own balance between traditional ways so that they can interact with current-day globalisation like the rest of us do, making a country stagnant through political gridlocks isn't going to advance anyone. How is constantly blaming the past going to make them better as a group, as in education, health, and wealth?

My oldest son moved to Collie a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how pro Labor the workforce was, he personally has never been that interested in politics.

We went out to lunch the other day and he said the whole workforce has swung anti Labor and are as angry as hell about the heritage laws and Labor letting them down.

The backlash has been nothing short of astonishing, it must have scared the hell out of Labor, Collie is one the strongest Labor seat in W.A, if they are going down there it doesn't bode well for them.
Interesting times, my guess is Labor want the voice put behind them as quickly as possible, that's why Albo isn't delaying it or modifying it.
The whole thing has backfired badly, whether the fallout is fatal for the Government will be the interesting bit.
The voice, the top tier tax cuts, the shambolic electricity system and prices, the out of control property prices, the probable recession, the record immigration.
It is all starting to look a bit worrisome, the next election should give an indication, as @IFocus says the W.A Liberals are in a shambolic state so Collie will be a good indicator as to the fallout.

Mention Labor in a pub in Qld, and you'd want to make sure you have your running shoes on.

Thanks @TimeISmoney ,

It is rare for Queensland to be agin the ALP in both State and Federal.

The dislike of the ALP is to the marrow, and it will take many years or some mistep by the LNP for the ALP to win back the voters.

Crime in state, and Woke/Voice in federal are the main issues. Anyone can manage speeding tickets and the preferred gender of comedy companies.

A simple question for the Yes side, "On balance, do you think that it was a good thing that the country you are in was founded or not?'
