The state of the economy at the street level

Lismore, no wonder! Only a matter of time before it floods again.
The 'funny' thing is that it is not new even if they had an especially severe flood last time:
A hundred years ago, people would move out of the Queenslander with their boat if the living space was getting wet, living space already very high on stumps..you can see that in the video, move out, come back, give it a wash and carry on for the next decade
Goods were minimal: you had a bit of mud in the wooden cupboard and cast oven, few clothes and shoes.tools just drying
100y later is a different
House itself: plaster board, furniture ,laminate and chipboards kitchen,/carpet..straight to dump, all electric electronics can go in the dump, even cars can not be submerged anymore.
More good and assets, which can not recover from flooding...
Lismore can not remain there, even the older buildings in 2025 .
It should be a lesson in building in flood plains
Same with ptovided services: power, sewerage, roads, telco...
Hardly affected 100y ago, write off nowadays.
No go areas in 2025 lifestyle and expectations, and can not should not be insured there against flooding

Something as simple as meeting on the beach and you get red tape..and obviously fees and cost:
Doesn't a country allowing this , and this at all levels, deserve economy death?
I do

job creation.

the permit process allowed the council to ensure applicants had public liability insurance, first aid certificates, relevant fitness industry qualifications, bookings to ensure no overlap and a site map to make sure community use was still available.

Still
PS job creation: famed BS jobs, private jobs destruction;
More burden and costs, less output/wealth creation.. Australia 2020s
I didn't mean it kindly.

our local council will enforce permits on groups of 30 or more... and things that have a commercial aspect, like weddings that are run by someone.

other than that, keep it clean

From one of my suppliers -

Dear Valued Customer,
The previous 12 months or so have seen unprecedented cost increases for businesses. I am sure your business is no different to ours in that we have all been affected by the alarming increases in overheads and costs.
We have undertaken an in-depth review of our entire product range and operational costs. We have reviewed all areas of our cost base and worked very closely with our suppliers. Despite these efforts, we will have to introduce a price review across our entire range effective March 1st, 2025.
I appreciate price changes are not ideal. We have done all we can to delay such action. Our review has enabled us to keep any changes minimal.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter, more importantly, thank you for your continued support and custom
Should you have any questions or queries regarding this increase, please do not reply to this email, please reach out to your
Kindest regards

Something as simple as meeting on the beach and you get red tape..and obviously fees and cost:

Is the council responsible for maintenance at the beach> If so I wonder if public liability is involved and they are trying not to get involved if somebody cuts their foot on a piece of glass and then sues the council claiming lack of duty of care?

It's probably why lids on take-away coffee cups have the warning about the coffee being hot - I ordered a hot coffee but you didn't warn me it could burn if I spilled it! or I didn't know a lighted match could burn me! Lots of Doh's out there trying to get others to pay for their stupidity and the bloody courts agree with them sometimes.

Lucky inflation is coming down.

We all know why, but a few graphics and truths need to be repeated
But all good CBA shares going higher and now that NDIS rorts, defence spending money like monopoly players, and social welfare costs of our Aboriginal policies have been aired, we can..carry on in full knowledge.....
Economy is simple: do what the majority of dumb wits voters want, tax the minority and businesses you do not like, send cheques if any price go higher and "control" inflation, or just to your mates.
if unemployment goes up, hire more PS..et voilà..tada...reelection and another beach house as a reward
Rince and repeat.especially good with an ALP brand but lessons being learnt by greens, teals and the new LNP
You do not stop a winning recipe

If the tree huggers weren't so anti-coal we'd have wild steel, glass etc industries on account of being entirely self sufficient for the coal needed in the blast furnaces but nope, the tree huggers put a stop to that here so the chinese just get the industries and jobs along with them instead.

i will give you a hint , the 'tree-huggers' don't give a rat's about trees , bees , animals or water tables , the only thing they hug is more regulations and new jobs for their associates and relatives

if they really cared about anything except over-regulation they would have joined The Blue Movement ( founded by a former high ranking greenie )

one might note how difficult it is the find information on this group as it veered sharply away from the Globalist agenda towards personal and national self-sufficiency

No they're just dumb as ****

No they're just dumb as ****
i believe a former senior Soviet official would have called them 'useful idiots '

but then the education system has been so gutted ( even when i was going to high school ) it is hard to tell who is most to blame

Tree Huggers , are like members of the Bradfield Party , they mean well, but because they are so passionate about their pet subject(s), they lose a sense of realism.
I am always a tad wary of anyone who says they passionate about anything, they tend to lose their ability to be rational.
There are few folk like that here on ASF,
Mick
