Was just wondering if any of the members had bought that life changing self help program the secret?

Now the next big question is have any members applied it to trading?

:D Well I am one to believe if you stare at a chart long enough the price will one day rise! Hope your entries where low margin traders! ha ha ha:D

All jokes aside,

Personally, I don't believe it that kind of thing at all. I am very skeptical.

If any members have success stories from applying it in there personal life or trading life please share.

All other opinions/comments welcome as well.

**and no this is not a under the radar market research exercise to decide weather I should buy it** LOL

Re: The Secret

Helllo trade it, I'm in the same boat as you... Skeptical. However it does provide some guidence as to positive thinking etc, much like th richest man in Babylon.
Personally I would not buy something like this, it's all to logical. I borrowed my CD's of friends.

I recently began 6 month strategy to acquire a nice Maserati that parks across the road from me. I've dedicated 10 minutes each and every day to stare at it, picture owning it and thinking happy thoughts. On the morning of the 181st day, I intend to walk in and grab the keys.

After having read the secret, I'm certain the universe will reward my hard work and good planning and I'll have a nice new car.

Stay tuned.

I too am very sceptical about this kind of thing.... but hey it can't hurt to be positive in life.
It is amusing to see that all the success stories the secret uses, are from themselves, making a mint out of The Secret.:cautious:

the secret is to find gullible / directionless / stupid / greedy people and sell them a story / direction / clue / too-good-to-be-true-deal. it always has been. its the same principle that religion has been employing since the dawn of time.

Not a big fan of "The Secret" but one truth that cannot be denied. Doctorj must believe he can get that Maserati before the Maserati is his. I am not big on "vibrations in the universe" will bring the car to the good Doctor but rather the Doctor will, by focusing his mind on the subject, find a way for the car to become his. By focusing on that car for 10 minutes a day, 181 days in a row, he will not only have worked out how to grab the keys but also;
1) what time of day gives him the longest lead time before it is missed.
2) when it is full of petrol.
3) where he will drive to and hide out for the rest of his life.
He must believe he can get the car before he can have a chance of getting the car.

I'm a non-fanatical believer. Was using the process before the video came out - saw it and realised - hey I do that and it works most of the time.

To me, its like a skill set; for example if you dont have the skills to use wood working tools and try to make a wooden table - because you've seen someone else do it - well you know what you'll end up with :p:

As I say, I was using it before it became mass-hysteria, works most of the time - but not all the time because my skills are lazy...

I was taught this at management school years ago - plan in detail - visualise every aspect (risk assessment), eventually take action and follow the plan, then vary the plan as obstacles block it.... its all very similar.

Its also very similar to wot's his name ... Anthony Robbins with NLP (nuro-linguistic programing)

Good luck, doctorj. Sounds like a plan indeed!

Did anyone see the Chasers parody of this? It was pretty funny.
I particularly liked the bit where they visualised driving into a parking building, visualising that there would be a parking space and just driving into it.
All seemed to be working pretty well until they smashed into the car already in the parking space.

Nothing wrong with believing you can achieve things, but this whole "Secret" thing seems to me to be a very successful piece of marketing.

yeah, i was using that process long before it was documented...

i just thought it was part of being an eternal optimist... and a dreamer :D:D:D

lol, Doc the universe will probably reward you with an all expenses paid holiday as well.

I agree with Rafa. It's not really a "secret". Some of us have been doing it our entire lives - I for one was brought up that way.

Hi Trade-It,

Well you did ask!!! and I am going to answer because you do seem to be quite open minded about this. A couple of years ago a friend gave me a tape of Abraham (who is on the original version of the Secret but not in the later version). I found the principles pretty interesting and started trying to apply them to my life.

In answer to your question about success stories – yes, I have had many, many amazing things happen (the first being within about a month of hearing the stuff) and, yes, I have had success with the shares as well as a result of this. For me it’s very personal though and I don’t normally speak to anyone who is not already into this stuff but I really think the world will be a much better place if more people hear what Abraham has to say, although it’s not for everyone.

Rhonda Byrne (who produced the Secret) is a perfect example of these principles working, as she is now very wealthy as a result of it. I really don’t know what her motivation was in making it but I do know that she wanted Abraham’s intellectual property rights signed over to her which, seeing as Jerry and Esther Hicks (who are behind Abraham) have been producing their stuff for 20 years, was a pretty outrageous thing to try and do.

If you are interested in this stuff you may want to hear what Abraham has to say on the Abraham-Hicks website. This is free on the site in the introduction to Abraham.

My personal experience is that it has really helped me to enjoy life a lot more!

Cheers,
Startrader

I dont see anything wrong with having a positive outlook on life and having plans for the future and beleiving it really can happen. All it is really saying is instead of complaining about how come/why me etc focus more on the good things in your life. I think it is an awesome thing to watch just dont be over the top with it. Its a good outlook to have.

Doc J

But Doc J, would it convince you? Probably not. I took have listened to the Abraham Hick stuff, and if there is one thing I learnt it was - if people really want to know, they will find out for themselves, and no one need push it onto anyone.

I tried pushing it onto my wife who is the eternal pessimist! Then I realised - even if she saw it working, she would not believe or be 'into it'. So I stopped and we are both happier :D

But for Doc here's three:

(1) I wanted a job in a occupation that I'd never been in. I wrote the application and the acceptance letter, put it in my bottom draw. It took around 3 years and I got it. Not through trying, but by being in the right place at the right time.
(2) I wanted a particular house that wasn't for sale. I wrote down on some pieces of paper about what I would do to the house when it is mine. Again, 3 years and by being in the right place with the right people around me, it happened.
(3) I've been training in a martial art, on and off for decades. Never overly seriously. However at the begining of this year I made a simple poster of myself receiving not the first level black belt, but the second. At both those levels one must be invited to attempt. I have been invited to attempt both before the end of this year. I NEVER communicated that to the instructors.

I've also had failings along the way too...
